The Opportunity
Responsible for greeting donors at the plasma collection center and conducting a series of registration procedures to verify donor suitability for the plasma pheresis process.
You will report to the Assistant Center Manager.
The Role
In compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), assists qualified donors in completing the screening process. The screening procedures includes but are not limited to: assessing the self-administered health history, answering basic medical questions associated with the donation process, referring donors to medical staff when appropriate and performing health screening procedures such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, temperature. Performs finger stick to obtain sample to obtain donor's hematocrit and total protein levels.
Upon completion of the appropriate training, may educate new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from donated plasma. This includes explaining the screening process, the health screening tests performed, the appointment system, donation fees, center policies, proper nutrition and any other information pertinent to the donor. Ensure that all donor questions are answered timely, accurately and professionally.
May be involved in registering applicant and transfer donors based upon completion of appropriate training and operational needs of the center.
May answer the telephone and answer callers question or transfer call to appropriate staff member.
Maintain alertness and awareness to any reaction by a donor may have during or after the pheresis process and notifies appropriate staff.
Alerts Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
Ensure the accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in the SOPs.
Understand the policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center if applicable.
9 Maintains clean efficient work environment and ensures sufficient operating supplies and forms are available as needed. Follows all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures. Promote safety in all actions.
Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor and center information.
May be cross-trained in other areas to meet the needs of the business.
Bilingual skills may be required, at the discretion of the organization, to meet the needs of the business.

As an important part of our clinical operations, your duties will include:
Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures
Follow CLIA, HIPPA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines
Review and release test results.
Workspace organization. Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correct the problems encountered or notify laboratory manager.
Prepare urine, blood, and fluid for testing and analysis.
Provide all necessary technical support to ensure the continued effective lab operations.
Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, and sending and receiving emails.

MT/MLT Certification

About the Role
The MedicalTechnologist is responsible for performing moderate and high complexity testing. MedicalTechnologist or Medical Laboratory Technician
The MedicalTechnologist performs pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic clinical laboratory testing to assist other healthcare providers in the diagnosis and treatment of patients as well as in disease monitoring and prevention. The Laboratory technologist must comply with Solaris Diagnostics laboratory section specific policies and procedure in addition to all regulatory standards for CLIA/CAP. This position requires extensive knowledge of core laboratory procedures, specialized core laboratory diagnostic laboratory tests, and medical terminology to perform specialized medical laboratory diagnostic tests.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Follow polices and procedures (SOPs) for pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phase of testing.
Evaluates the acceptability of specimens for testing ordered, including documentation. Prepares specimen for testing, including accessioning in the LIS as needed. Monitor inventory and supplies and notifies the appropriate individual before supply is depleted.
· Performs laboratory testing for patient specimens and proficiency samples.
· Performs and documents quality control, assesses acceptability and records any corrective action.
· Performs laboratory testing for patients.
· Performs and documents equipment maintenance.
· Performs minor repairs/troubleshoots problems.
· Ability to perform phlebotomy procedure.
· Records/communicates issues and documents corrective action. Actively participates in completion of daily tasks (in addition to QC/maintenance).
· Verifies and reports patient test results accurately in the LIS, including proper documentation during computer downtimes (e.g. delta checks). Communicates critical values and corrected results to appropriate caregiver and documents communication.
Prioritizes and organizes work effectively to balance multiple tasks, while maintaining quality standards.
Maintains turnaround time standards for patient testing, including the use of outstanding lists, worksheets, etc; Assists others to maintain an efficient workflow and meet turnaround time expectations.
Functions as a self-starter, arrives to work on scheduled days and is in the section ready to begin work at the start of the shift, as well as demonstrates flexibility with schedule to meet the needs of the department/section.
Stays busy throughout the assigned shift by assisting others or finding tasks to complete.
Ensures continuity of workflow by communicating with co-workers when leaving the work area.
Identifies and solves problems and issues independently and documents appropriately.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned (examples include but are not limited to: training students and/or new employees, assisting in startup studies for instruments or new procedures, assisting in validation of computer or interface upgrades and changes, acting as an instrument key operator.)
· Facilitates the implementation of new tests, methods, instrumentation, and procedures.
· Complies with state and professional continuing education requirements.
· Comply with all HIPPA/CLIA/CAP guidelines.
· Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
· Ability to deliver information and results in a timely and efficient manner.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENT:
Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or Associate of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology,
OR; Bachelor of Science in a related life science (e.g. Biology or Chemistry) with 1 years' experience working in clinical lab.
Degrees must be from an accredited U.S. college or university, or foreign degrees must be officially assessed to determine U.S. equivalency.
ASCP or equivalent certification (or eligible) preferred.

· Minimum 1 year of experience in Core Laboratory
EDUCATION:

Bachelor's or associate degree in medical technology biology
, Toxicology or related field.
OR; Bachelor of Science in a related life science (e.g. Biology or Chemistry) with 2 years' experience working in clinical lab.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Ability to lift up to 30lbs.
· Must be able to sit for long periods of time.

Obtains specimens from clinical laboratory examination directly from any patient of any age, including infants
Near visual acuity is required to read detailed instructions and to examine specimens
Analyze retrieved data and prepare reports for laboratory manager
Perform any other duties that may be necessary for the operation of the corporation and/or hospital
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma
Associate degree required (Bachelor's degree preferred)
Five plus years laboratory experience
Ability to communicate effectively
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Varied activities including standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting.
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient's manual and finger dexterity and eye hand coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time

Under direct supervision, is responsible for the collecting and processing of specimens from patients, documenting results according to established procedures. Assists with performing specimen analysis, instrument maintenance, and quality control procedures as indicated. Follows quality assurance and safety policies and procedures. Assists with patient flow as needed
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Collects appropriate specimens from patients as ordered.
Maintains proper documentation as described by the quality assurance program including accessioning logs, test report logs, quality control logs, equipment records and checklists.
Performs specimen analysis of all chemistry, hematology, immunology specimens as directed.
Maintains adequate inventory of supplies and ensures that all supplies are viable before using in patient testing.
Assists with testing procedures according to procedure guidelines. Sends specimens to reference laboratories for any testing not performed in house.
Processes incoming orders for lab testing. Processes in-house and in-coming results for charting. Charts patient results in a timely manner.
Update and file all daily paperwork, lab logs and maintenance logs.
Arrange for transfusion of blood products when ordered by physician.
Operates designated laboratory equipment as directed. Uses equipment effectively, skillfully and efficiently. Maintains equipment and work area as directed. Performs testing under CLIA guidelines for personnel
Performs daily, weekly and monthly instrument maintenance as indicated.
Records proper lot numbers of all controls, calibrator, and reagents.
Identifies troubleshooting procedures and calls technical services as needed.
Implements and complies with safety and quality assurance standards. Complies with regulatory agency standards. Adheres to all OSHA compliance laws and Universal Precaution procedures. Properly disposes of hazardous materials.
Maintains a clean working environment and restocks the laboratory area as needed.
Performs phlebotomy and sample collection procedures as needed.
Maintains confidentially of all information related to patients and medical staff.
Education and Experience
High School diploma or equivalent.
Requires one (1) year experience in lab testing.
