Job DescriptionAbout the role:
As the Maintenance and Utilities Technician V, you will perform advanced maintenance, preventive maintenance, and repairs on a variety of critical plant equipment. You will ensure the smooth operation of manufacturing and facilities equipment, contributing to the efficiency and reliability of Takeda's operations.
How you will contribute:
Perform preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance on:
HVAC, chillers, boilers, air handlers, refrigeration systems, compressors, pumps, water systems
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair control systems, instrumentation, and mechanical systems
Maintain refrigerant logs per EPA/SCAQMD standards
Execute and close work orders (JDE system), including required documentation and Change Control
Escort contractors, support equipment startups, order/manage chemicals
Ensure compliance with NFPA, NEC, UMC, cGMP, and internal safety protocols
Respond to emergency/urgent utility issues and hazardous waste concerns
Participate in team meetings and instructor-led training
Demonstrate increasing technical proficiency over time
What you bring to Takeda:
High School diploma or GED required
8+ years of relevant industrial maintenance experience required
2-year technical certificate (HVAC, Utilities, Building Trades) or military equivalent; Class 3 Industrial Wastewater Certification strongly desired. Automation/controls experience (DeltaV, Honeywell) highly preferred
Experience interpreting schematics, manuals, job plans. Experience with PID loops, Lockout/Tagout, ACAC protocols
Basic understanding of GMPs and regulated environments. Familiar with CMMS (JDE, Maximo), Microsoft Office, SCADA
Important Considerations:
At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. In this role, you may:
Carry up to 25 lbs., lift up to 50 lbs., and push/pull > 100 lbs. (with the assistance of material handling equipment).
Stand for extended periods of time over an entire shift.
Climb ladders and stairs while wearing special gowning.
Perform bending, twisting, reaching overhead, and/or squatting motions to perform certain tasks.
Work in controlled environments requiring special gowning. Will be required to follow gowning requirements and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body.
Will work in a cold, wet environment.
Work multiple shifts, including holidays and shutdown. Must be able to work overtime as required.

Job Description
Major accountabilities:
* Adhere to Novartis Quality Policies and procedures as they pertain to the position to ensure that all products are safe, pure, effective and of the highest quality.
* Perform a wide range of maintenance repair activities on production equipment, lab equipment and building management systems.
* Assist in troubleshooting and repair of process equipment (example: containment isolator systems, filling line equipment and associated utility connections) which may include mechanical, electrical wiring, pneumatics, motors, pumps, vacuum systems, HVAC, control systems, compressed gases, filling line, under little to no supervision.
* Interpret P&IDs, equipment/system layouts, wiring diagrams, and specifications in planning and performing maintenance and repairs.
* Support 24x7 site-based operations after startup.
* Write/revise accurate operational procedures, training documents and maintenance procedures for various production and utility systems.
* Provide radiation safety program support, responsible for calibration and functionality of all radiation detection equipment
* Completes Equipment Work Order Thoroughly, and Accurately and Documents them in the System
* Supply information and technical data for securing spare parts.
* Provide responsive customer support with emphasis on customer satisfaction.
* Perform startup and commissioning activities as required.

The salary for this position is expected to range between $22.84 and $42.45 per hour for the Engineering & Maintenance Technician I and is expected to range between $30.58 and $56.82 per hour for the Engineering & Maintenance Technician II.
The final salary offered is determined based on factors like, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically. Novartis may change the published salary range based on company and market factors.

(Near-term) Responsibilities in a Startup Environment: In a startup environment, the Aseptic Filling Technician will adapt quickly to changes, lead in developing and optimizing new processes, and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, managing inventory and resources efficiently, and troubleshooting unexpected challenges. The technician will also contribute to scaling production processes, participate in diverse tasks to support the dynamic needs of the startup, and ensure the sustainability and scalability of all procedures as the company grows. Specific activities would include FAT, SAT, CQV, media and engineering runs that lead to stability batches. The successful candidate will need to be flexible to perform activities outside of the standard aseptic requirements in order to assist other departments during scale up of staffing and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Aseptic Procedures:
Learn and practice basic aseptic procedures in the filling suites per training and SOPs.
Lead aseptic filling procedures and independently operate aseptic fill suites.
Clean, inspect, and assemble complex filling equipment and prep for sterilization.
Perform routine environmental monitoring, including settle plates, contact plates, aseptic swabbing, particle counts, and air sampling.
Load and unload autoclaves using practices designated to achieve and ensure equipment sterility.
GMP Compliance:
Train in and apply GMPs to assigned work.
Document processes accurately and completely in accordance with SOPs and GMPs.
Assist with final compilation of filling documentation packages and perform final checks of process worksheets.
Learn and apply USDA and APHIS requirements related to filling operations.
Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
Assist with mechanical set-up procedures in an aseptic environment and independently perform mechanical set-ups.
Operate electric material handling equipment (forklift, tank puller) to move product tanks and supplies.
Use balances, pipettes, scientific calculators, and other measuring devices to establish and verify fill volumes.
Assist with operation of CIP/SIP systems (clean-in-place, sterilize-in-place).
Supply and Inventory Management:
