The Process Improvement Intern will be directly involved in special projects designed to improve process efficiency, product quality, and machine productivity in the plant. They will report directly to the Process Improvement Manager and will have a mentor assigned to lead and assist in their work experience. They will be members of the Process Improvement team and work with plant and office staff in the completion of their projects. Reporting to the Production Manager, the Shift Supervisor will have operating responsibility for safety, quality, cost, productivity, and management of the Paper Machines, Recycled Fiber, Boiler, and Shipping crews. Responsibilities * Works safely and follows all related policies and programs to assure a safe working environment. * Responsible for correct reporting of time, production and material usage. * Checks paper on hand against what is needed for each production run to ensure shortages are prevented * Reports irregularities, maintenance needs and quality problems to the Team Operations Manager * Assists crew in startup, running, changing over and cleaning up the machine * Setting up and adjusting glue machine * Preparing rolls for roll stands and proper placement based on production schedule * Bring rolls from storage area to machine using roll clamp truck * Using a computer system, sets stacker controls including length, stack count, etc. * Monitor adhesive system for proper operation and quality * Monitor and maintain plant scrap baler system * Using a ruler, verify dimensions on corrugated board to ensure a quality product * Troubleshoots machine issues and make recommendations on improving the process * Keeps work area clean and orderly * Other job tasks and projects as assigned This position requires a self-motivated individual willing to work safely in a team based system.
