Summary
Lehigh Valley Health Network - Proudly Part of Jefferson Health is seeking highly motivated professional Radiation Therapist(s) to join the Radiation Oncology Department across the Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton area, with multiple openings! Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute's radiation therapy program is nationally recognized for maintaining the highest safety and care standards. The department consists of 3 Varian True Beams and a Varian Edge, an HDR unit, Gamma Knife Icon and a GE CT simulator. Aria is used as the Record and Verify system in combination with Epic.
The Patient population is of all ages at this location. A wide variety of patients are treated using IMRT, SRT, SBRT, Breath Hold, Vision RT and Gating. Treatments also include non-cancerous conditions, and our program has recently expanded to treating Osteo Arthritis patients.

About the job:
Administers radiation therapy as prescribed by a physician in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. Travels between LVHN/LVPG Radiation Oncology sites as necessary. Trains and mentors new radiation therapists and students in addition to the duties of the radiation therapist.
Job Duties
Delivers a prescribed course of radiation therapy to patients and provides continuous monitoring during treatment. Schedules daily treatment appointments, answers patient questions, and explains the procedures being performed.
Serves as a liaison between patient and other members of their care team and reinforces recommendations given to the patient concerning reaction to treatment and care of irradiation area, prevention or treatment of generalized and local side effects. Observes patient for any unusual reactions or events.
Monitors radiation equipment inventory and follows all safety regulations regarding radiation exposure.
Participates in CT Simulation procedures and/or other treatments/procedures.
Participates in on-call, if applicable.
Keeps current regarding developments, trends and techniques in radiation therapy and equipment.
Mentors and teaches students and new employees.
Trains and supports other radiation therapists in current or new department equipment/procedures, as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's Degree Radiation Therapy or equivalent or
Technical School Diploma Accredited Radiation Therapy Program
2 years Radiation Therapist, ARRT Board Certified
Analytical ability to resolve problems that require the use of basic scientific, mathematical, or technical principles.
Ability To keep confidential information regarding patients, and team members.
Ability to exchange information on factual matters, schedule appointments, record treatment data in patients' records, greet visitors, explain hospital policies, and/or relay patients' needs to appropriate personnel.
Knowledge and experience with electronic health records.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Screens patient before exam for any precautions or contradictions pertaining to examination, using two patient identifiers to ensure correct patient and procedure
Explains and prepares patients for PET/CT imaging procedures that will be performed, explaining the procedure, positioning patients so that the parts of the body can be appropriately
Performs routine and advanced PET/CT imaging procedures on designated portions of the body for use by physicians in the diagnosing and treating of patient illness and/or injury with minimal amount of supervision or repeats scanned, while providing patient support by talking to patients throughout procedure
Adjusts PET/CT scan parameters correctly and as needed, utilizing dose reduction techniques as appropriate
Maintains positive attitude and working relationships with radiologist, referring customers and other associates and peers
Follows physicians' orders precisely and conforms to safety regulations to protect yourself, your patients, and coworkers
Accurately maintains patient records within Radiology Information System (RIS)

*** This position will rotate between our Doylestown and Warrington offices. Candidates who reside in the Warrington or Doylestown area are preferred. ***
Daily Responsibilities:
Perform radiographic imaging as requested by the physician or physician assistant at all office locations.
Document complete patient histories accurately, including height, weight, and past medical history, before the physician examines the patient.
Enter completed information onto E-Clinical Works (medical records system).
Aid physicians and physician assistants with routine procedures, suture removal, and preparing patients for casts or injections, providing proper instructions and information.
Prepare and complete patient medication refills daily/weekly/monthly.
Helped monitor patient medication alongside the physician and the physician assistant.
Keep stock of supplies for distribution to patients and perform pre-certification of medication or supplies.
Request x-rays for patients to be picked up from Doylestown Hospital before their visit.
Make hospital runs to the doctor's lounge, inpatient radiology, OR with surgery films, and deliver orders to the proper offices before surgery.
Keep exam rooms clean and available for patients, stock closets with medical supplies, and ensure rooms are properly stocked and cleaned daily. Restock all rooms with exercise pamphlets and surgery set-up papers.
Properly prepare hazardous waste material and have BFI (Hazardous Waste Material) ready for pick up monthly. Ensure all red boxes are correctly closed and changed regularly.
Knowledge of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and insurance, as well as what to dispense and where to send patients if insurance does not allow them to receive DME here.
Keep a supply of gowns and shorts available for patients. Clean boats and change the disinfectant in them monthly. Clean all instruments monthly.
Change film badges monthly and track radiation exposure.
Perform any other duties and tasks that may be assigned occasionally.
Responsible for opening the office on specific days.

Qualifications:
Core skills in X-ray technology, including medical imaging.
Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and aseptic technique.
Ability to perform X-rays with precision.
License/Certification:
ARRT Certification (Required)
