Reviews patient records for orders, exam history, lab work, and allergies, and positions patients on the scan table. Establishes I.V. site for contrast infusion and administers oral, rectal and I.V. contrasts. Consults with Radiologist prior to administering I.V. contrast for bolus I.V. injections. Monitors patients during injection for evidence of contrast reaction. Enters patient and exam data into x-ray computer system and performs computed scan images. Prepares reports and maintains records of service rendered, using the radiology department computer system to verify billing and quality assurance. Completes incident reports and anesthesia records when necessary. Reports all technical problems to the supervisor or senior technologist. Assists Radiologist with interventional procedures such as biopsies and drainages. Informs Radiologist of scan results when anomalies or abnormalities are visible. Schedules patient exams and revises daily schedules to accommodate emergency exams from MedSTAR, ER, and other units. Cleans and maintains an aseptic working environment for each patient. Films CT scan images and archive exams onto tape or optical disk. Ensures adequate supplies are available and is responsible for replenishing supply levels. Assists in the training and orientation of new employees and students. Completes all required information system functions to assure proper patient information, billing, exam, and other necessary functions are correctly entered and maintained. Qualifications: Associate degree or one to three years formal training in Radiologic Technology. Completed competency-based training in CT. 1-2 years job related experience. The Interventional Services CRT assumes responsibility for the acquisition and processing of state-of-the-art imaging as well as the efficient operation of the equipment in the Interventional Radiology/Cardiac Catheterization Lab. Performs related duties as required. DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS : NOTE : Following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. Responsible for Quality Control on radiology imaging equipment, fluoroscopy check and radiation protection for the professional staff and Physicians. 2. Coordinates and collaborates with Technical Aides to ensure efficient room turnover. Coordinates, communicates, and collaborates with Patient Financial Associates that register radiology exams to minimize delays and potential safety issues for the outpatient population. Qualifications: Vocational/Technical Diploma from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology; competency in didactic coursework and an ARRT-specified list of clinical procedures by completing competency requirements established for the discipline in which they are seeking certification and registration. ARMRIT (American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists) or ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technology); with advanced certification in MR.
