Training and competencies in CT completed. Responsibilities Properly position patient and equipment according to radiologist protocols. Select proper technical factors to obtain quality images. Under the direction of a physician, administer appropriate contrast agents according to department protocol and maintain current knowledge of these agents and their indications/contraindications. Ensure appropriate consent forms and patient history forms are completed and signed. Ensure that exams are completed in a prompt manner for interpretation. Uses filtration devices (i.e. boluses, filters), FFD, film-screen combinations, photocell selection, etc. to obtain highest quality images. Utilize effective patient care and communication skills to obtain optimum patient rapport. Monitor patient condition and take appropriate action to ensure continuity of patient care. Ensure patient comfort, safety and modesty throughout procedures. Wear film badge to assure compliance with ALARA standards. Maintain adequate supply inventory in work area, restocking as needed. Notify supervisor of inadequate supplies. Use protective devices (i.e. aprons, gloves) and techniques according to department radiation safety guidelines. Ensure safety of other personnel and visitors required to remain in unshielded areas. Use beam restriction devices to consistently minimize radiation exposure to patients. Participate in routine call assignment. Maintain cleanliness of rooms, equipment, and other work areas and assist with transportation of patients. Assist students with other technologist with CT and Radiographic procedures. Assist all new technologists with training and guidance in learning CT. Work with Radiologist to assist with the development and maintenance of procedure protocols. Perform clerical tasks, which include scheduling exams and faxing results.
