Job Overview Perform Computed Tomography (CT) scan procedures on assigned patients according to the policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives of the department and hospital. Perform CT scan procedures that follow radiological standards in a safe, accurate and timely manner, meet the American College of Radiology (ACR) imaging standards and allow the radiologist and/or physician to make a radiological diagnosis. Responsible for designated areas and/or procedures as assigned. Work cooperatively within departments and other service lines to create a system of quality health care. Work independently as required. Job Description Minimum Qualifications: 1. Associate degree in Radiology or related field. 2. Radiologic Technologist Certification (ARRT). 3. Ensure IV access has been obtained and administer IV contrast. 7. Participate in ongoing education and training. 8. Perform quality control on equipment and devices as required. 9. Communicate with other staff/departments to coordinate care of patients. 10. Maintain supply stock and request stock to be ordered when necessary. 11. Keep all work areas clean and functional according to DPH and The Joint Commission. 12. May teach students and support new technologists. Physical Requirements: 1. Frequent standing, occasional sitting, walking, and lifting 30-35 lbs. 2. Manual dexterity using fine hand manipulation to operate radiology equipment. 3. Job Overview Under the direction of the clinical supervision, performs technical aspects, stress tests and a variety of routine tests or patient procedures in the Nuclear Medicine Department. Demonstrates understanding of scientific principles and safe work practices associated with tests performed. Complies with JCAHO, Federal and State licensing departments and other regulatory body requirements. Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine, Radiological Technologist program. 2. American Registry of Radiological Technologist (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification (NMTCB). 3. Upon arrival of patient, checks patient records to insure completeness of data and ascertains whether examination medications have been given. 2. Following physicians orders, prepares and calibrates radio pharmaceuticals and injects patients, using Technetium generator and other radio nuclides, dose calibrator and manual calculations. Sets up and maintains accurate records concerning amount of and types of radioactivity given to patient. Positions patient relative to site specific equipment and adjusts controls as necessary. Is responsible for making sure correct images are done on the computer by giving the correct commands. Brings images to Radiologist for interpretation when completed. Maintains accurate records which conform to N.R.C. regulations. 3. Conducts proper quality control procedures on Radio-pharmaceuticals used as well as proper quality control of function of Gamma Camera and calibrator. Regularly cleans and maintains nuclear medicine equipment, reporting any equipment malfunctions promptly to proper people. 4. Uses proper technique when working with radioactive material to insure minimum exposure to patients, self and others. Does quality control procedures, as required, and maintains proper records. 5. Performs Radiologic examinations and related department duties as requested. 6. Successfully deliver competent care to patients in a continuum of ages from infancy to adult with and emphasis on geriatric patients. 7. Keeps abreast of changes and new developments in Nuclear Medicine service by reviewing journals, attending educational courses, seminars and/or professional meetings. 8. Participates as a member of the Radiation Safety Committee Physical Requirements: 1. Frequent standing, occasional sitting, walking, and lifting 30-35 lbs. 2. Requires manual dexterity using fine hand manipulation to operate radiology equipment. 3. Hearing and visual acuity sufficient to perform examinations; observe patients, read monitors and documents, and hear audible equipment alarms. Skills & Abilities: 1.
