The newly built BASS Cancer Clinic offers comprehensive cancer management (Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, PET/CT imaging, and supportive care) centered on compassionate service and state of the art care, including the first MR-Linac program in the East Bay.
The BASS Radiation Oncology Department is seeking a Staff Radiation Therapist to join a forward-thinking team committed to creating and maintaining a culture of collaboration amongst the entire team to provide accurate, innovative and compassionate care to the patients utilizing Elekta VersaHD and Viewray MRIdian Linac. The successful candidate is responsible for administering therapeutic doses of ionizing radiation; using advanced level linear accelerators and other treatment units; and record and verify treatment software; as well as simulating patients in accordance with prescription and instruction of the Radiation Oncologists. They reliably and accurately document treatments delivered, and respectively and compassionately interact with patients.
Duties:
Deliver accurate, efficient and reproducible radiation therapy treatments as indicated by prescription.
Proper use of a linear accelerator, use of beam monitoring equipment, TLDs, use of appropriate treatment devices, and correct chart and port film documentation.
Review diagnosis, patient chart, and identification. Review diagnosis, patient chart, and identification.
Perform morning warm up QA for linear accelerator and PET/CT machines.
Perform accurate and efficient radiation therapy treatment simulations. This includes proper use of a simulator, fabrication of various treatment devices, including custom blocks and basic dosimetry. Along with Photograph and tattooing of patients as required.
Recognize and report malfunctioning equipment.
Ability to communicate and work effectively with physicians and other staff, recognizing the importance of cooperation and contribution to a team effort.
Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and multitask.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients from diverse social and cultural backgrounds, making them feel comfortable while helping to ensure a high level of patient satisfaction. This includes patients who are severely ill and incapacitated.
Ability to frequently lift, move, and transfer patients. Also, must be able to lift and move supplies and equipment.
Take daily/weekly imaging to analyze and accurately reproduce patient positioning.
Follow principles of radiation protection for patient, self, and others. Aware of MRI safety protocols.

Completion of a 24-month course in radiologic technology and 12-month course in radiation therapy, or a Bachelor of Science degree in radiation therapy.
Licensure as a Radiation Therapy Technologist, ARRT certification

BLS/CPR Certification

The general MRI technologist is a journey-level position or up to 2-years' experience working in either a clinic or acute care hospital facility. + Identifies each patient, reviews each patient's requisition and previous studies for consistency
+ (examination ordered/clinical diagnosis), and records pertinent data on MRI requisition at all times
+ Responsible for performing comprehensive screening of patients and other individuals before allowing them to enter the MR system room
+ Reviews each examination for technical accuracy, presents completed examination to radiologist, and communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure
+ Identifies anatomical orientation on all required images and ensures proper film identification on all images
+ Adheres to all Amergis and worksite rules, policies and procedures

Minimum Requirements:
+ Associate's or Bachelor's degree in the radiology field
+ Registered with the ARRT; if required by state regulations or contract specification.
+ One (1) one year of experience in related field preferred

+ Current CPR if applicable
