Perform a variety of tasks involving the operation of mammographic radiographic equipment and other equipment/devices as appropriate.
Position patients, using immobilization when necessary.
Calculate exposure factors, assist physicians.
Perform the quality control functions related to mammography.

Prepare and set up medical supplies using aseptic techniques if appropriate.
Explain procedu res to patients.Charge mammographic procedures and supplies in Maestro or EPIC.

Demonstrate proficiency in performing all breast imaging procedures, to include breast interventional procedures.
Monitor mammography section procedures and supply charges to ensure completeness and accuracy.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein.

Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMinimum Qualifications & Education
Graduate or completion of program that meets eligibility requirements for registry/certification or currently holds required registry or certification.
Technologists initially qualifying on or after April 28, 1999, must meet the Mammo-Specific requirements by having at least 40 hours of documented training in mammography.
Experience & Level Characteristics
Level I -
Must obtain ARRT certification at time of employment.
Performance of a minimum of 25 mammography exams under direct supervision of an appropriate MQSA qualified individual.
At least 8 hours of training in using any modality (e.g., digital) before beginning to use that modality independently.
Level II -
Minimum of two years' experience as a Mammography technologist.
Must perform at least 200 mammography examinations in a 24 month period.
Level III -
A minimum of 4 years' experience within specialty modality inwhich they are seeking promotion
Degrees, Licensures, Certifications
ARRT certification in radiography ARRT advanced certification in mammography FDA/MQSA qualified to include meeting the MQSA CE requirements of at least 15 CEUs in a 36 month period that must include at least 6 CEUs ineach mammographic modality used.

Job Summary
The MRI Technologist I perform procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. Operates MRI Scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency. This equipment includes a scanner, post-processing stations/programs, IV contrast injectors, O2 and suction equipment, patient transport, and patient monitoring equipment.
Job Responsibilities
• Examines requests and verifies orders for each assigned patient.
• Refers and questions orders to the Radiologist before performing the exam.
• Contact the ordering provider when there are discrepancies.
• Properly identify (Using two patient identifiers) and assist patients while offering a brief explanation of the procedures. Prepares patients for the procedure with a full explanation and documents on appropriate worksheets. Interviews patients for a complete medical history.
• Reviews inpatients, ER, and outpatients ' EMRs to obtain pertinent clinical history.
• Records medical history on requisitions.
• Correlates other test results and laboratory data with the exam being performed.
• Assumes responsibility for the exam from the beginning of the exam until completion of the dictated results.
• Prepares and administers IV contrast according to departmental protocols.
• On request, records contrast type and amount.
• Evaluates the technical quality of images and consults with a Radiologist if needed.
• Recognizes abnormal anatomy and processes any additional, reconstructed images, and/or measurements as instructed. Performs basic patient care functions.
• Informs appropriate nursing personnel of any changes in the patient's condition. Initiates life support measures for patients when necessary.
• Assists in “code blue” procedures during medical emergencies.
• Performs MRI scanning and assists Physicians/PAs during invasive procedures.
• Practices proper sterile technique in the preparation of necessary supplies.
• Performs all invasive procedures in accordance with bloodborne pathogens, isolation, and infection control policies and procedures.
• Is authorized to obtain medication or contrast material as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner. Practices the principle of radiation safety for self, employees, patients, and family members.
• Follows appropriate radiation safety standards.
• Reports malfunctioning equipment to the department director/manager/supervisor and clinical engineering/radiology engineer.
• Maintains knowledge and skills required to work safely in an environment that can create significant exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases.
• Adheres to the hospital fire and safety procedures.
• Attends all in-service classes and completes all required safety modules. Operates the radiology computer system to include entering orders and charging procedures/supplies. Documents contrast administration in the MAR.
• Maintains assigned work area in a neat and orderly fashion. Keeps the area completely stocked.
• Cleans all work areas to promote cleanliness in the workplace.
• Assists other medical personnel, such as anesthesia, when performing exams or services in conjunction with an MRI scan.
• Maintains knowledge of all MRI safety requirements for both staff and patients while in and around magnetic fields.
Requirements
• Graduate of an accredited two-year AMA approved program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology, or active enrollment in an ARMRIT or ARRT registry-eligible program required.
• ARRT (MR) required.

The CNSA team will focus on a range of services, from non-operative treatment options and minimally invasive outpatient surgery to the most complex and life-enhancing surgical procedures.
Job Summary
The MRI Technologist perform procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. Operates MRI Scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency. This equipment includes scanner, post processing stations/programs, IV contrast injectors, O2 and suction equipment, patient transport and patient monitoring equipment.
Essential Functions
Examines requests and verifies orders on each assigned patient. Refers and questions orders to the Radiologist before performing exam. Contacts ordering provider when there are discrepancies.
Properly identify
(Using two patient identifiers)
and assist patients while offering a brief explanation of the procedures. Prepares patients for the procedure with a full explanation and documents on appropriate worksheets.
Interviews patients for a complete medical history. Reviews in-patients, ER, and outpatients EMR's to obtain pertinent clinical history. Records medical history on requisitions. Correlates other test results and laboratory data with exam being performed.
Assumes responsibility for the exam from beginning of exam until completion of dictated results.
Prepares and administers IV contrast according to departmental protocols. On request, records contrast type and amount.
Evaluates technical quality of images and consults with a Radiologist if needed. Recognizes abnormal anatomy and processes any additional, reconstructed images, and/or measurements as instructed.
Performs basic patient care functions. Informs appropriate nursing personnel of any changes in the patient's condition. Initiates life support measures for patients when necessary. Assists in “code blue” procedures during medical emergencies.
Performs MRI scanning and assists Physicians/PA during invasive procedures. Practices proper sterile technique in the preparation of necessary supplies. Performs all invasive procedures in accordance with bloodborne pathogens, isolation, and infection control policies and procedures.
Is authorized to obtain medication or contrast material as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner.
Practices principle of radiation safety for self, employees, patients and family members. Follows appropriate radiation safety standards
Reports malfunctioning equipment to the department director/manager/supervisor and clinical engineering/radiology engineer.
Maintains knowledge and skills required to work safely in an environment that can create significant exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious disease.
Adheres to the hospital fire and safety procedures. Attends all in-service classes and completes all required safety modules.
Operates radiology computer system to include entering orders and charging procedures/supplies. Documents contrast administration in the MAR.
Maintains assigned work area in a neat and orderly fashion. Keeps area completely stocked. Cleans all work areas to promote cleanliness in the workplace.
Assists other medical personnel, such as anesthesia, when performing exams or services in conjunction with a MRI scan.
Maintains knowledge of all MRI safety requirements for both staff and patients while in and around magnetic fields

Graduate of an institution accredited by an agency that ARRT recognizes in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology. Active enrollment in an MRI ARRT registry eligible or ARMRIT program required. MRI registry must be obtained within 1 year of hire. CPR certification required.
