The X-Ray Technician is a trained medical professional performing radiological duties in compliance with regulatory and departmental requirements. The duties of the X-ray Technician vary from setting to setting, depending on the size, location and type. The X-ray Technician will perform radiographic exams, ordered by the physician, that are technically satisfactory, properly positioned and processed adequately. All exams must be performed using the ALARA principle to minimize radiation dose to the patient. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Positions patient under X-ray machine, adjusts immobilization devices, and provides appropriate radiation protection; adjusts switches regulating length and intensity of exposure Performs a variety of patient care activities to assist physicians including procedures, EKG's, phlebotomy and injections. Prepares reports and maintains records of services rendered; maintains radiological film files and storage, pulls X-rays as required for referrals and/or copying; keeps logs for x-rays sent out for referrals. Keeps an updated log that consolidates X-rays performed against reports received. Maintains supplies, equipment, practices OSHA safety standards, performs accurate, legal and ethical documentation at all times. Performs other related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Must have excellent oral written and communication skills and empathy towards our patients at all times. Ability to effectively collaborate with team members, including doctors, nurses, front desk staff, center managers and market leaders. Mindset focused on solving problems for patients and achieving team goals. Knowledge of medical products, services, standards, policies and procedures. Skill in operating phones, personal computer, software and other IT systems. Must be detail-oriented to ensure accuracy of reports and data. Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow. Ability to act calmly in busy or stressful situations. This position may require some local travel as it may be assigned to cover multiple centers. Under supervision, to perform work involving providing support and assistance to the MRI staff and Manager in the performance of their duties, specifically with training, Quality Improvement, and continuing education issues. Works closely with the Sub-section Chief (Radiologist) and directly with the Manager of MRI dept. to ensure the efficient daily operation of the MRI dept. Tech interacts with co-workers, Physicians, patients and nursing units, displaying appropriate Guest Relations. Responsibilities PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential Functions) Assesses the exams performed on an ongoing basis, and provides findings and results as appropriate. Assists Leadership in collecting departmental CQI, Radiologist CQI, and ACR in the appropriate time frame. Demonstrates the ability to work independently, to operate all types of departmental equipment, and perform all types of MRI procedures, taking into account patient's age, physical mental and emotional condition, 100% of the time. Informs Leadership of all equipment malfunction and initiates appropriate service calls and maintains documentation of same. Learns office procedures so that direction and assistance can be given to technical and office staff in the absence of the manager. Assists with orientation and training of technologists on the proper use of all equipment and new procedures instituted in the department. Guides and directs employees as needed to ensure that services to patients and other customers are maintained at an optimal level at all times, while conferring with the radiologist or physician requests for supplies required for special procedures. Performs other duties as needed and/or assigned. Assists physicians with biopsies and other invasive procedures, utilizing the modality as guidance and maintaining sterile technique. Review and correlates patient exam orders with patients current history and prior exam history to ensure that the appropriate exam is being performed. Verifies correct transfer of images and exam information through PACS and RIS for interpretation by the Radiologist ensuring correct charging. Maintains the Magnet and radio-frequency protection of all patients and visitors at all times. Administers contrast materials in the prescribed dose in accordance with dept. policy.

The successful candidate will develop web-based AI agents for X-ray spectroscopy by integrating large language models (LLMs) with physics-aware spectroscopy workflows. The researcher will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of X-ray physicists and computational scientists to advance a next-generation, user-friendly, agentic AI platform for automated data analysis, interpretation, and user interactions. The appointment is expected to last two years and the contract is extended on a yearly basis. Confers with the Radiologists to establish protocols of non-standard examinations and determines technical factors to complete the exam. Receives patients, explain method of examination, and positions patient, performs IV puncture and administers IV contrast agent as indicated. Independently performs and completes routine examination. Evaluates the nature of critical and urgent procedures and arranges patient priorities to accommodate the Stat orders. Maintains records of patients imaged and type of examinations performed including protocols used. Monitors the use of supplies and orders supplies as needed. Keeps abreast of new developments in the field and implements those which would improve the operation of the service. Performs or monitors safety checks on patients, employees and visitors to comply with the safety standards regarding ferrous objects and cardiac pacemakers prior to those persons entering the environment of the magnetic field. Monitors the examinations by checking computations, performances, and results of the selected parameters to obtain the best diagnostic computer generated data and images. Sends images to the PACS. Ensures equipment is operated within manufactures guidelines. Assist with obtaining acceptable images, uploading and charts needed information for ACR renewal. Knowledge: Professional knowledge of diagnostic technologist principles, practices, concepts, and anatomy of three-dimensional relationships sufficient to perform a full range of duties connected to MRI. Knowledge of MRI standards to monitor and evaluate work of technologists. Knowledge and skill sufficient to consult with physicians and physicists on logical protocols to follow in attempting to establish or confirm the diagnosis of a patient. Practical knowledge of computer operations to insure proper control of patient data input and to insure accuracy of data output. Knowledge of requirements sufficient to insure that procedures relative to patients, employees, and visitors are consistent with requirements for MRI safety. Education: Associates degree in an allied health field or a bachelor's degree and certification in another clinical imaging field with six months of supervised clinical MRI scanning experience. Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR). Or be certified by ARRT and/or appropriate state licensure and have six months of supervised clinical MRI scanning experience.
