Position Summary: We are looking for drivers to provide safe transportation of our at risk youth to and from the After School Program while utilizing appropriate interventions and positive role modeling. Drivers are responsible for specific routes, but also need to display the ability to be flexible when reasonable changes occur to their route. This position is responsible to report to the Program Coordinator or Transportation Coordinator. This is a PRN position with no more than 20 hours per week. Responsibilities Include: Provide safe and reliable transportation for clients to and from pickup/drop off sites, for visits, appointments etc. Report to supervisor any unusual circumstances or problems that occur on route. Be safe, sensitive, empathetic and able to handle client outbreaks while driving Report any moving violations during the course of employment to supervisor within 24 hours. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and driving record that meets the underwriting criteria of the Agency's insurance company. Ensure all required trainings, certifications, and licensure must be kept current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards. Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures. Meets the program's productivity target for billable services each week. Respect the privacy of clients and hold in confidence all information obtained during the client's treatment. This position also provides an array of onsite and community (mobile) based harm reduction and screening services including but not limited to street and venue based outreach, prevention counseling, overdose education and prevention, Narcan enrollment and distribution and Syringe Services to priority population members defined by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Office of HIV/AIDS (MDPH, OHA), as those at high risk for acquiring or transmitting HIV, sexually transmitted infections (STI's) and/or viral Hepatitis (MSM), active substance users, injection drug users (IDUs), people living with HIV/AIDS and/or Hepatitis C, sex workers and other high risk populations. Operate company vehicles in a safe and professional manner complying with federal, state and local laws. Load, unload, prepare, inspect and operate pickup truck with 32ft trailer attached. Safely follow all local and state driving laws and road regulations, including but not limited to, driving within posted speed limits. Perform maintenance of MHU, including replenishment of supplies, refilling gas, checking tire air pressure, and cleaning the unit on a regular basis. Complete activity, travel, and mileage logs and reports on a daily basis. Schedules unit for preventative and maintenance in accordance with agency prescribed schedules. Arranges transportation to detox facilities. Conducts onsite and community based education sessions on overdose prevention. POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision, transports the Family Health Center's Mobile Unit and staff to destinations throughout Kalamazoo County as determined by the Mobile Unit Manager. HOURS: On call and as needed. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Defensively drive the vehicle safely to assigned destinations. Follow local and state driving laws and road regulations, including but not limited to driving within posted speed limits. Set up the unit to include medical and IT equipment. Stopping and looking for traffic at all stop signs, etc. Monitor traffic conditions to avoid delays. Read and interpret maps and GPS directions. Perform vehicle inspection before and after each trip, including, but not limited to, checking tires, brakes, lights, gas, fluid level, etc. Complete the operational checklist. Maintain unit repair and maintenance records. Immediately report any vehicle repair or maintenance needs to the Manager. Takes unit to designated repair shops when necessary. Immediately report any unsafe equipment or working conditions to the Manager. Immediately report any accidents or injuries to the Mobile Unit Manager. Allow no riders not approved by the Mobile Unit Manager. Observe OSHA, state, and federal safety regulations. Stay at the designated site and set up the unit. Ensure the environment is clean and safe. Greet patients in a friendly and courteous manner. Inform the Manager of any changes or restrictions in the driver's license. Maintains the general cleanliness of the vehicle. Provides security for the vehicle while it is parked at a destination. Observe and report suspicious activity. In some instances, serve as security. Must possess general rapport with children and adolescents. Long work hours may be indicated. Perform other duties as assigned. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee must frequently sit and use their hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess own transportation. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and third-party vendors. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES: Valid Michigan driver's license Must possess a CDL B with Air Brakes license, no violations on the driving report High school diploma or GED 1-2 years prior experience driving a commercial vehicle. Job-related training or other education may be substituted for 1 year of experience.
