Job Description: Traffic Signal ITS Technician
We are seeking a skilled Traffic Signal ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) Technician responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of traffic signal systems, including advanced camera-based vehicle detection systems. This role requires a strong understanding of traffic signal control systems, various vehicle detection technologies, and field equipment integration. Sign-on Bonus:

Responsibilities:
· Install and maintain various traffic signal vehicle detection camera systems, including Gridsmart and Iteris.
· Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of camera systems.
· Install CAT5 cables, test connections, and install CAT5 RJ-45 connectors.
· Program and adjust detection zones to optimize traffic flow and safety.
· Work within traffic signal control cabinets to perform maintenance and upgrades.
· Integrate various field equipment, such as pedestrian push buttons, flashing yellow signal upgrades, antennas, and radios into new and existing cabinets.
· Replace and troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment, including MMUs (Malfunction Management Units) and traffic signal controllers.
· Program and adjust traffic signal controllers (ATC) as necessary to ensure proper operation.
· Collaborate with vendor technical representatives, VDOT (Virginia Department of Transportation), and County/City signal technicians to resolve system issues and ensure compliance with specifications.
· Work closely with field signal installers to oversee installations, adjustments, and signal activations.
· Communicate effectively with relevant parties to ensure smooth project completion.
· Be available for emergency after-hours calls, scheduled traffic switches, and signal turn-ons as needed.
· Respond to and resolve system malfunctions or breakdowns in a timely manner.
· Work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on project needs or emergency situations.
Qualifications:
· Working knowledge and experience with Gridsmart and Iteris camera systems.
· Proficiency in installing and testing CAT5 cable and RJ-45 connectors.
· Familiarity with traffic signal control cabinets, signal controllers, MMUs, pedestrian push buttons, and related field equipment.
· Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to program and configure detection zones and signal controllers.

Responsible for checking fluid levels (fuel, grease, and oil) and performing preventative maintenance (lubrication, oil changes, oil/air filters, and oil samples) on all heavy equipment used on the projects. The oiler must also safely operate a lube/grease truck to dispense lubricants to construction equipment. NATURE OF WORK
