Strong understanding of fabrication processes (cutting, bending, assembly).
Experience with nesting, toolpath optimization, and CAD file preparation.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and version control discipline.

· Checks machined parts for conformance to prescribed tolerances .
· Make edits to CNC programming at machine controls if needed.

Hoppe Technologies, located in Chicopee, Massachusetts, is currently recruiting to fill several CNC Machinist positions across multiple shifts. Hoppe celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2021, and we are an established machining company serving (primarily) the aerospace, defense, and semiconductor industries. Our primary machining areas consist of 3-, 4-, and 5- axis Mazak, Okuma and Matsuura milling and Mazak Integrex mill-turn CNC machines. We are continually upgrading and adding new machines to our shop, the most recent being a pair of Matsuura MAM72-70V's each equipped with 18-pallet tower systems. Responsibilities of the CNC Machinist position include, but are not limited to;
Setup, run and produce quality parts on various CNC machines such as, but not limited to 3-, 4-, or 5-Axis milling or Mill-Turn (Multi-Tasking) machines.
Load and unload parts, operate controls, complete basic program edits, and initial deburring of parts.
Complete tool changes and resetting of tool offsets.
Use job package information and drawings along with shop measurement devices and gauging to complete in-process inspection and determine dimensions and tolerances of in-process and finished parts.
Dismantle setups and return tools, fixtures and gauging to proper location upon completion of manufacturing runs.
Detect and report machine and equipment malfunctions to immediate supervisor.
Communicate with supervisor for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly.
Complete daily and weekly preventative maintenance checklists on assigned equipment.
Within the scope of the job requirements, adhere and comply with state and federal law, the Company AS9100 quality program and procedures, company policies and Safety and Environmental regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience setting up and operating CNC machines such as milling machines, mill-turns and / or lathes in a machine shop environment.
Required Skills:
High School Diploma or GED. Technical/Vocational training desired.
Proficient knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, and indicators.
Knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with an understanding of geometric tolerance and dimensions.
Knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts, and other accessories used on various machines.
Must be able to follow written and oral instructions

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Responsible for leading production in the CNC Swiss area and communicating with leads on other shifts.
Responsible for managing daily priorities, assigning work to those in the department to maintain optimal flow. Prioritize work based upon product and resources.
Participate in daily production and GEMBA meetings to maintain constant communication of scheduled work.
Monitors CNC Swiss Machinist productivity to ensure correct machining processes are used and department activities are consistent with manufacturing objectives.
Plan and coordinate workflow with other departments and scheduling function.
Supports company policies working with direct reports and collaborates with the Leadership Team to resolve issues/concerns.
Interview and evaluate applicants for vacant positions.
At times you are expected to setup and operate a variety of CNC Swiss equipment to produce components using engineering drawings and specifications.
Leads process improvement, process development, and productivity improvement efforts.
Ensure employees are performing and documenting in-process quality control inspections and labor entries.
Responsible for managing and consistently maintaining a safe, clean, and organized department.
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident, due to contractual requirements
At least 5 years relevant experience in a Swiss machining environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 2-year previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
Contract Manufacturing experience highly desirable
Proven ability to work in a fast past work environment.
Knowledge and understanding of ERP systems (Epicor a plus) and Microsoft office suite.
Ability to read blueprints, use micrometers, calipers, and other quality control inspection gauges
Ability to setup and operate CNC Swiss machine tools.
Ability to program CNC Swiss machine tools.
