Fulfilling the assigned duties and reporting completion of tasks to the supervisor.
Clean areas 30+ feet high such as ceilings, vents, light fixtures, walls, windows, and other areas needing ladders over 6-feet or the use of a mechanical lift.
Complete assigned duties per department standards and procedures, including the cleaning of drapes, upholstered areas, windows, elevators, mattresses, shampooing carpets, and clean hard surface floors.
Set-up and perform preventive maintenance on department equipment. Inform management of any problems, equipment malfunctions and/or hazards.
Must learn how to operate all equipment safely and how to maintain all equipment?
Maintain working areas, storage areas and equipment, ensuring they are clean and organized.
Responsible for annual deep cleaning of guestrooms
Seasonal deep cleaning of hotel rooms and public areas; which include heavy duty cleaning in all areas of the hotel.
Maintain organizational and communication skills.
Proficient knowledge of cleaning equipment and cleaning agents.
Assist other staff as needed, including laundry duties and cleaning hotel rooms.

Provide instruction and oversight to student employees assigned to building to ensure tasks are completed. Test, evaluate and recommend new products, equipment and procedures.
3. Perform miscellaneous duties.
Recommend repairs through the work order system or call the Facilities Management Office in emergency situations. Follow up to make sure repairs are completed correctly. Perform minor repairs and routine maintenance of custodial equipment including replacement of vacuum bags and brushes, cleaning of filters, etc. Maintain clean appearance of equipment as well as function by cleaning equipment thoroughly inside and out after each use. Monitor condition of equipment, submitting work orders as needed. Discuss concerns with lead worker. Perform minor building and furniture repair including replacement of light bulbs and chair tips, tightening of fasteners, etc. Support waste minimization efforts on campus by working with leads to recommend or implement different processes for trash and recycling collections, as well as other universal and hazardous wastes. Maintain custodial closets and carts in a clean and organized manner to ensure items are on hand when and where they are needed. Maintain proper storage of products and universal waste (ie. Lightbulbs) for safety compliance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
80% Cleaning/Upkeep
* Clean, scrub, mop, dust, vacuum or sweeps floors, stairs, classrooms, kitchens, gyms, locker rooms, libraries, offices, commons, hallways, restrooms and other designated areas.
* Respond to emergency cleanup situations.
* Keep the custodial/maintenance rooms clean and well maintained. Restock shelves with cleaning supplies.
* Maintain building security: secure building, lock and unlock buildings, as necessary and perform other security tasks.
* Detailed cleaning of all areas of building in summer months as directed.
5% Maintenance/Repair.
* Perform routine preventative maintenance upkeep on equipment.
* Perform minor repairs and maintenance.
* Assist with major repairs and maintenance.
* Monitor boiler operation and reports any concerns.
10% Set up/Take down
* Set up, take down & clean up for events and other activities as directed.
4% Grounds
* Perform basic grounds upkeep including shoveling snow, picking up garbage and keeping entrances clean and free of obstruction, as needed.
1% Meetings/Trainings
* Attends meetings and trainings as assigned.
* Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Education/Certification/Licensure Requirements:
* High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
* No previous custodial or other related experience required.

* Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques.

* Basic computer skills.
* Basic communication skills.

Machines, Tools, Equipment, Electronic Devices and Software Required:
* Operates hand tools, pallet jack, desk/table movers and ladders.

* Operates computer, hand held radio and district phone system.
Supervision of Other Employees:
* This position does not provide supervision or work direction to any other District employees.
Physical Job Requirements:
* Position involves lifting, walking, pulling, stooping, climbing, crawling and kneeling.
* Position involves extended periods of time on feet.
* Position involves frequent lifting up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts 75 - 100 pounds.
* Position involves occasional climbing of ladders.
* Position involves occasional repetitive motion & hand dexterity in performing tasks.
* Position involves listening, speaking clearly and visual acuity.
