Keep the school building and student areas neat and clean. 3. Assume responsibility for opening and closing the building each school day; establish procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities. 4. Check daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy. 5. Observe and inform supervisor of safety hazards. 6. Comply with local laws and procedures for the recycling, storage, and disposal of trash. 7. Make minor building repairs as needed and report major repairs needed to the principal. 8. Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency. 9. Assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment; requisition additional supplies as needed. 10. Move furniture or equipment within the building as directed by the principal. 11. Operate tools and equipment following established safety procedure and rules. 12. Adjust thermostats according to established temperature ranges. EQUIPMENT USED: Buffer, stripper, wet and dry vacuum cleaner, electric drill, shampooer, and ladder. WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands: Reading; ability to understand verbal instructions. Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Strenuous walking, standing, and climbing; heavy lifting and carrying.
