Under supervision, positions in this classification generally involve cleaning in common areas of the community, both public and private. On an assigned shift, cleans clubhouses, designated laundry buildings, adjoining laundry drying areas, stairs and stair landings; assist in a variety of maintenance; and performs and performs related work as required. EQUIPMENT OPERATED: Truck, broom, mop, mop bucket, vacuum, floor machines, buffer, carpet cleaning equipment, dolly air-blower, washer and dryer. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Climate controlled indoor facilities with exposure to dust and normal outdoor elements. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Some education and experience that provides the following: Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the job. Knowledge of the materials, methods and practices used in cleaning operations. Ability to maintain a schedule of cleaning and work with a minimum of supervision. Ability to learn the operation and care of vacuum cleaners, scrubbing machines, polishing machines and other custodial equipment. Ability to work hours determined by shift assignment. Ability to exercise care in the use of cleaning materials for different types of building surfaces. Ability to read and write work-related job instructions in English.
