Perform a full range of custodial duties related to the cleaning and maintenance of buildings and facilities; perform related work as required. Clean, sweep, vacuum, extract, mop, strip, wax, polish, buff, and maintain floors, steps, entrances and halls. Dispose of trash, biohazards and recyclables properly. Sweep and clean entranceways and steps. Replace light bulbs as needed. Setup and arrange furniture and equipment for classes and scheduled events. Work safely with equipment, vehicles, cleaning fluids, chemicals, and other cleaning agents. Report safety hazards and identify and report maintenance needs in assigned buildings and facilities. Report observed suspicious or unusual situations or activities promptly to designated authorities. Assist in snow removal from building entrances and adjacent walkways. Other related duties as assigned. Required Knowledge and Skills Must possess the ability to work independently and be self-motivated to complete tasks within allotted timeframe. Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals required. Preferred Knowledge and Skills High school diploma or GED preferred. Experience with industrial or commercial cleaning preferred.     The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all students, staff, parishioners, and visitors. As a member of our Catholic school and parish community, the Custodian plays a vital role in supporting our Christ-centered environment where faith, learning, and service come together. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Building Maintenance and Cleaning-- * Maintain cleanliness of classrooms, hallways, offices, restrooms, cafeteria, gym, and common areas. * Sweep, mop, vacuum, and wax floors as needed. * Clean and sanitize restrooms, refill supplies, and empty trash and recycling receptacles. * Wash windows, walls, and other surfaces as necessary. * Assist with set up and take down of school events and meetings.. * Perform light maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, tightening screws, and minor repairs. * Monitor the condition of facilities and report needed repairs or safety concerns promptly. Ensure all doors and windows are secured during the day and at the end of each day. Safety and Security-- * Maintain a safe environment by following established cleaning and safety procedures. * Respond promptly to spills, accidents, and other maintenance emergencies. Collaboration and Mission Support-- * Work cooperatively with the school and parish staff to support the mission and values of the Catholic Church. * Demonstrate respect, professionalism, and confidentiality at all times. * Model Christian values through a positive attitude, dependability, and service to others. Personal Attributes-- * Commitment to the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church. * Reliable, responsible, and attentive to detail. * Positive attitude and strong work ethic. * Respectful and courteous in interactions with students, staff, parishioners, and visitors. Qualifications-- * High school diploma or equivalent required. * Prior custodial or maintenance experience preferred. * Knowledge of cleaning supplies, equipment, and safe handling practices. * Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical labor. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings or weekends as needed for parish and school events. * Must successfully complete a background check and Safe Environment training in accordance with diocesan policy.
