Usually, custodians don't need a college education. The most common degree for custodians is high school diploma with 48% graduates, with only 17% custodian graduates earning bachelor's degree. Custodians who decided to graduate from college often finish University of Phoenix or Brigham Young University. Some good skills to have in this position include cleanliness, work ethic and customer service.

Popular custodian certifications include EPA Amusement Operators Safety Certification (EPA), Microsoft Office Specialist: Expert (Office 365 and Office 2019), or Certified Medical Office Manager (CMOM).
