(Resume and civil service application required) This is a custodial supervisory position at the Rochester City School District responsible for general housekeeping, maintenance tasks, semi-skilled repair work, steam boiler maintenance, record keeping, and the general physical condition of an assigned building or school. This position differs from Assistant Custodian Engineer by virtue of the performance of supervisory duties and less hands on work. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of the Supervisor of Plant Maintenance or other higher level staff member. This Remote Driving Janitor position provides a variety of laundry attending, cleaning services and other related duties required to keep remote industrial housing facilities, food service areas, office facilities, or similar areas in a clean and orderly condition. This position will expedite product, supplies and equipment from camp to camp. All duties are to be performed in accordance with NMS' mission, vision, and values as well as housekeeping policies, practices, and procedures. This is a rotational position with a 3-week on & 3-week off work scheduled, working twelve (12) hours per day, supporting the WNS Camp on the North Slope. The point of hire origin is Anchorage, AK. Responsibilities * Cleans, vacuums, mops, or restocks hallways, stairways, offices, food preparation or break areas, kitchen areas or equipment, laundry rooms, clinics, living areas, work areas, off-site areas, common areas, restrooms, public areas, or other similar areas. * Sweeps, mops, scrubs, strips, extract, waxes, buff, vacuums, etc. all types of floors. * Dusts both low and high areas. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Dust mop or sweep all non-carpeted floors; damp mop floors as needed or vacuum carpeting walk-off mats as applicable as per schedule. Empty waste receptacles and food containers, changing plastic liners as required. Fill all dispensers, i.e., soap, toilet tissue, paper towels, sanitary napkins as per schedule. Thoroughly clean and disinfect walls, doors, partitions, woodwork, and handrails in restrooms as specified. Clean and disinfect waste receptacles and sanitary napkin containers as per schedule. Clean and disinfect sinks, toilets and urinals. Clean window glass and mirrors. Sweep and damp mop bathroom room floors with a germicidal solution as per schedule. Clean and disinfect drinking fountains. Clean elevators and stair ways. Dust/clean all fixtures, ledges, edges, shelves, exposed pipes, high and low dusting, door frames, or other hard surface areas. Clean window glass, inside and out in lobby areas and partition glass. Collect and transport recyclable materials from recycling bins and containers throughout the building. Remove trash, rubbish and boxes from area to outside dumpster. Spot clean carpet, rugs, and walk-off mats as needed. Wash exterior entrances, steps, and platforms. Police outside areas to remove gum, litter, debris, papers, trash, and other discarded materials. Vacuum/clean fabric furniture. Remove snow from entrance and sidewalks using a shovel or snow blower. Perform variable cleaning procedures as assigned. WORKING CONDITIONS Environmental conditions: Moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic). Ability to work in a confined area. Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period. Physical requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, reach, stoop, kneel to install computer equipment. This Remote Janitor position provides a variety of laundry attending, cleaning services and other related duties required to keep remote industrial housing facilities, food service areas, office facilities, or similar areas in a clean and orderly condition. This position will expedite product, supplies and equipment from camp to camp. All duties are to be performed in accordance with NMS' mission, vision, and values as well as housekeeping policies, practices, and procedures Responsibilities * Cleans, vacuums, mops, or restocks hallways, stairways, offices, food preparation or break areas, kitchen areas or equipment, laundry rooms, clinics, living areas, work areas, off-site areas, common areas, restrooms, public areas, or other similar areas. * Cleans indoor and/or outdoor smoking areas. * Sweeps, mops, scrubs, strips, extract, waxes, buff, vacuums, etc. all types of floors. * Dusts both low and high areas. Wipes down or cleans various surfaces. * Uses appropriate equipment and cleaning solutions for all tasks. * Removes and properly disposes of discarded materials. * May compact trash. * Removes and transports trash to the appropriate disposal areas. * Remove linen, towels, and trash from various areas. * Restocks sleeping rooms and bathrooms, verifying that towels, sheets and blankets are available for each appropriate room. * May require cleaning of indoor and/or outdoor smoking lounges. * May change light bulbs and perform very light facility maintenance. * May keep building entryways free of snow and debris. * Participates in and supports corporate safety programs. * Responsible for extensive transport and delivery of a variety of items to and from sites. * Locates and distributes materials to specific areas manually or using handcart, hand truck and Tommy lift. * Other related duties may also be assigned. * Notify supervisor if safety and sanitation standards are not being met. * Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success also may be assigned. * This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications * High School Diploma or GED equivalent * At least one (1) year experience that evidences a working knowledge of commercial cleaning equipment and industrial cleaning processes. * At least one (1) year experience in commercial housekeeping. * Must pass all pre-employment contract requirements which may include but are not limited to: drug test, physical and fit for duty assessment and hearing test. Applicants not located near a testing facility are responsible for paying for travel to the nearest testing facility. * Must be able to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers and clients. * Must be able to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision. * Must be able to be on your feet for 12 hours per shift for the scheduled rotation. * Must be able to live in dormitory style settings and meet cleanliness requirements of the remote camp. * Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English. * Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and client. CANDIDATES RESIDING OUTSIDE ANCHORAGE AREA: Candidates residing in Alaska & the Lower 48 for any contract: For the purposes of pre-employment testing, Anchorage will be considered the point of hire (with the exception of drug testing, which will be conducted near the candidate's place of residence). Employee is responsible for any travel expenses and needed accommodations related to pre−employment tasks that need to be completed in Anchorage, AK. Physical requirements: Fit For Duty Test * Lift: Lift 50 lbs. from floor to knuckle x2 * Lift: Lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist x 2 * Lift: Lift 38 lbs. from floor to shoulders x 2 * Carry: Carry 38 lbs. with two hands for a minimum distance of 30 feet x 2, self-paced. * Allow a 60 second rest period between carry tests. * Push: push horizontally with a peak force of 50 f-lbs. with two hands * Pull: pull horizontally with a peak force of 75 f-lbs. with two hands. * Stoop & Twist: Perform alternate cross over toe touches x 5 each side, self-paced but continuous. * Squat Test: Functionally squat x 5, self-paced but continuous. * Stairs: Climb up and down 12 steps x 15 for a total of 180 steps, * Allow 30 second rest after climbing up and down each set of 50 steps, self-paced. * Stairs & Carry: Climb up and down 10 steps x 5 for a total of 50 steps while carrying 38 lbs. in one hand and using the other hand to grasp a railing for safety, self-paced. * Allow a 60 second rest period after climbing up and down 25 steps while carrying. * Slanted Ladder: Climb a slanted ladder with 3 rungs x 3 repetitions for a total of 9 rungs, self-paced but continuous.
