Reporting to the Senior Environmental Specialist, you will be responsible for buildings and grounds, overseeing wastewater operations, and lagoon oversight and any related outdoor work responsibilities.
You will:
* Maintain plant areas in a sanitary and orderly condition. These areas include: fresh-pack preparation, open dock, dry warehouse, shops, separation buildings, lagoon and wastewater operations and the surrounding grounds.
* Perform light maintenance tasks such as repairing, installing and painting to name a few
* Follow quality control points and practices (GMP's/HACCP/FSMA)
* Communicate with contractors
* Sort, transport and store metals for recycling.
* Operate and maintain wastewater treatment systems - manage all lagoons, spray fields, irrigation systems and fields.
* Snow and ice removal of roads and walkways.
You can:
* Read, write and speak English
* Complete basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply and divide)
* Lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 lbs. throughout the shift
* Walk stand, climb and bend frequently throughout the shift
* Work 8, 10, or 12 hour shifts day or night

This position is responsible for overnight housekeeping duties in assigned areas of UW-Whitewater athletic buildings and maintaining these areas in a safe and
sanitary condition. The working days and hours are as follows: Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 pm - 6:00 am. This position will report to the Custodial Services Supervisor and work under the guidance of a Custodian Lead. Regular attendance is an essential function of the job. This position is designated at Level 1 for risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens. All established safety rules and regulations must be followed, and personal protective equipment must be worn when performing job duties requiring its use. The incumbent will be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations, including necessary training and drills. Based upon operational need for additional custodial coverage at University events, occasional overtime may be required, and changes to your schedule may occur, which may include evenings and weekends.
Key Job Responsibilities:
A. Routine daily maintenance of academic buildings
A1. Clean restrooms, shower, and locker rooms.
A2. Clean classrooms, whiteboards and trays, erasers, etc.
A3. Clean and dust office areas.
A4. Empty wastebaskets and remove trash from buildings.
A5. Replenish supplies as necessary.
A6. Vacuum and spot-clean carpets.
A7. Sweep and/or dust mop floors.
A8. Wet mop or machine scrub floors.
A9. Clean hallways, stairwells, and drinking fountains.
A10. Clean and sweep entryways and walk off mats; empty ash urns.
A11. Wash walls, ceilings, inside windows, and glass building entrances.
A12. Replace bulbs, clean light fixtures, and replace diffusers.
A13. Open and secure buildings/rooms as assigned.
B. Performance of Related Duties
B1. Clean and maintain equipment and storage areas.
B2. Report needed maintenance or repairs to supervisor via work request.

Salary Information
The starting salary is $16.67 per hour, plus excellent benefits. There is a $.80 night differential and a $.80 weekend differential, which will be combined for $1.60 when working nights on weekends. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. These positions are in pay schedule and range 03/08.
A $2,000 sign-on bonus applies to those who do not have prior state service in the last five years; who stay with CWC in the position until completing probation. Bonus will be split, $1,000 upon hire and $1,000 after completing probation.
Job Details

Willingness to attend meetings, training, and obtain additional certification as requested.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform cleaning tasks and aesthetic repairs on schedule and as assigned.
Provide clean and folded towels for member use as needed.
Report repairs needed to maintain efficiency and safety of department equipment, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
Maintain communication with shift lead custodian.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Physical aspects of the position include, but not limited to: walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting.
