Maintenance/Custodial/Custodian QUALIFICATIONS: The job of Custodian is done for the purpose/s of maintaining an attractive, sanitary, and safe facility for students, staff, and the public at district facilities; providing equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings, classroom activities and events; and minimizing property damage, loss and liability exposure. DUTIES: Arranges furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for meetings, classroom activities and special events. Cleans assigned school facilities (e.g. classrooms, offices, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, corridors, carpets, removes graffiti, windows walls, restrooms, bleachers, stage, locker rooms, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe and attractive environment at a School or District Office. Distributes/replenishes supplies and equipment (e.g. fill soap dispensers, towel/toilet paper dispensers, packages, furniture, TV/VCR carts, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring disseminating materials to appropriate parties. Inspects school or district facilities for the purpose of ensuring that the site is suitable for safe operations, maintained in an attractive and clean condition, and/or identifying necessary repairs due to vandalism, equipment breakage, weather conditions, etc. Maintains supplies and equipment (e.g. cleaning solutions, paper products, vacuum, mops, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items required to properly stock facilities. Prepares facility for daily operations as may be required (e.g. opening gates, raising flags, sweep/shovel/remove snow and sand walks, building access doors, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring facilities are operational and safe for occupancy. Repairs furniture and equipment as maybe required (e.g. light bulbs, switches, unclogging drains, sinks, toilets, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that items are available and in safe working condition. Communicates job related issues or concerns to Lead Custodian. Performs related work as required by the Lead Custodian and the building Administrator. Skill at: Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting in the completion of their work activities. SKILLS are required to perform multiple, non-technical tasks using existing skills. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the function of the job include: operating equipment used in industrial maintenance including electrical equipment, common tools, etc.; and adhering to safety practices. KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percent's, and/or ratios; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instruction. The Mold Cleaning Technician is responsible for cleaning and maintaining components used in injection molds, ensuring all parts meet quality and performance standards. This position requires adherence to established cleaning procedures, efficiency, and attention to detail to support optimal mold functionality and production output. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clean and maintain injection mold components using approved tools and cleaning agents, including isopropyl alcohol, brushes, rags, Scotch-Brite pads, rotary tools, Q-tips, orange cleaner, ultrasonic tanks, and an ice blast machine. Follow all documented procedures and step-by-step instructions specific to each component type to ensure consistent and compliant cleaning practices. Inspect cleaned parts for residues, wear, or damage and report any issues to the appropriate personnel. Work efficiently to meet production and maintenance schedules while maintaining quality standards. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including cleaning tools and equipment after use. May also be required to clean mold plates as part of the maintenance process. Adhere to all safety and environmental regulations, including the proper handling and disposal of cleaning materials and chemicals. Collaborate with maintenance and tooling personnel to support overall mold performance and reliability. Function: A School Custodian is responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness of the assigned facility and surrounding grounds. The School Custodian is responsible for the general security of the assigned facility. The School Custodian reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer or designee with direction from the School Principal. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for a variety of cleaning and maintenance functions and manual labor duties in a school building on a daily basis including, but not limited to: cleaning, housekeeping, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, washing windows, blinds and casements; changing inside and outside light bulbs, policing grounds, sweeping walks, and removing snow and ice as needed. Responsible for minor carpentry repairs as instructed such as minor repairs to secure table legs; replace handles, knobs, light bulbs and similar items; tightens screws, replaces nails and performs related tasks. CLASS DESCRIPTION Under the general supervision of the Facilities Director and/or Assistant Director perform general maintenance and custodial housekeeping duties. Some of these duties are day or night specific and apply to elementary or secondary levels. The following custodial duties are the expectation of the School Department. 1.Lavatories •All fixtures (including bowls, sinks, mirrors, fixtures and bubblers) should be cleaned on a daily basis. •Floors should be washed daily. •Paper towels and toilet paper will be checked daily and replenished as needed. •Soap Dispensers to be kept full at all times. •Toilet partitions and walls are to be kept clean by spot washing daily and complete washing monthly. •Check all plumbing for leaks, slow drains or anything that does not seem to be operating properly. •All heating vents should be cleaned and free of dust. 2. Grounds •The grounds around the school are to be checked daily and all stones, papers, bottles, etc. are to be picked up and disposed of properly. •Snow or ice on walks shall be cleared and sanded. 3. Classrooms •Classrooms will be dry mopped daily and spot wet mopped as needed. •Window sills, ledge and desks are to be dusted daily and washed as needed. •Woodwork will be spot cleaned as necessary. •Sinks and strainers are to be cleaned daily. •Baskets are to be empties daily and recycle bins emptied. •Carpets will be vacuumed as needed. 4. Corridors •Corridors will be dry and wet mopped daily and buffed during shut downs and summer cleaning. •In schools with floor scrubbers, hallways should be washed daily. •On rainy and snowy days, wet area are to be mopped dry with special attention given to entrances and stairways. •Woodwork and walls are to be cleaned when necessary. Water bubblers are to be washed and kept free from all debris on a daily basis. •Buildings with carpet will be vacuumed daily. 5. Custodian's Closet and Storerooms •Shall be kept clean and tidy at all times. •Sinks shall be cleaned. •Floor cleaning equipment shall be cleaned before storing. 6. Glass-Interiors •Entrance windows and door glass should be checked daily and cleaned if necessary. •All inside glass is to be cleaned when needed. 7. Lights •Ceiling lights should be dusted and checked for burned out lamps and replaced as needed. 8. Heating •Check the boiler the first thing in the morning during the heating season to be sure it is operating properly. •Boiler rooms are to be kept orderly and shall not be used as storerooms. •Boiler rooms are to be swept once a week. •Check water levels in boilers and drain water if necessary. 9. Emergency Lights •Emergency lights are to be tested once a month. Be sure that all lights work. Date and initial log. •Check battery for corrosion and check color button that indicates if battery is charged. The green button should be at the top of the battery. If it is not, then the battery does not have a full charge. Notify the maintenance office so that the necessary repairs can be made. 10. Hot Lunch Program •The lunch room, gym or rooms being used for the hot lunch program will be swept and mopped after lunch is finished and tables have been cleared. •Rubbish barrels are to be washed and kept clean at all times. •Trash barrels are to be emptied between lunches. 11. Emergency Procedures •In case of an emergency after school hours and weekends, you should page the night supervisor or Director of Facilities/Security or Assistant Director of Facilities. 12. Supervision •Custodian shall be under the supervision and direction of the direction of the Director of Facilities. They shall attend promptly and courteously to requests of the Principal in their respective buildings. The Director of Facilities/Security shall be notified if any custodian leaves the building during working hours. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.Clean and keeps in an orderly condition all areas within School Department buildings, including but not limited to: classrooms, restrooms, lavatories, washrooms, showers, study rooms, break rooms, offices, waiting areas, laboratories, closets, storage spaces, hallways, kitchen, gyms, auditoriums, and all other rooms within the school building or on school grounds. 2.Duties involve a combination of the following: sweeping, vacuuming, mopping or scrubbing, and polishing floors, removing trash and other refuse, dusting equipment, furniture, or fixtures, polishing metal fixtures or trimmings, assisting in the general maintenance of the school building, making minor maintenance repairs within the building(s), assisting in general snow removal as necessary. 3.Assist in general grounds maintenance as necessary. 4.Completing and filing all necessary requisitions and orders 5.Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the school principal and/or Facilities Director. The Overnight Custodian will be responsible for the overall cleanliness of all areas of the facility to ensure a positive member experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Thoroughly clean and sanitize restrooms, locker room areas, fitness equipment and gym floor. Stock locker rooms with proper supplies/paper products. Report any broken or missing amenities or equipment (Toilets, faucets, showers, hair dryers, gym equipment etc.) to the Club Manager. Follow “Lost and Found Policy” and turn in lost member property to the Club Manager/Assistant Club Manager immediately. Qualifications/Requirements Custodial experience is preferred. Maintains facilities, buildings and surrounding grounds in a clean and neat condition Essential Tasks of the Position: Performs routine custodial, maintenance and grounds keeping tasks Cleans and polishes floors located in storerooms, corridors, elevators, stairwells, lavatories and other areas by sweeping, dry mopping, scrubbing, waxing and polishing, using a variety of hand implements and equipment including brooms, mops, vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers and floor buffers Maintains rest rooms by sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, disinfecting and deodorizing lavatories, urinals, toilet bowl, sinks, mirrors and fountains Maintains grounds including pruning shrubs and trees, reseeding lawns, spraying insecticide and removing snow and ice Performs minor buildings/grounds maintenance, including inserting window panes, oiling or lubricating hinges and adjusting various pieces of cleaning equipment Performs routine custodial tasks including emptying waste baskets, washing windows, emptying trash compactors, vacuuming rugs and carpets, stripping wax, assisting tenants in moving furniture and similar tasks Applies appropriate solvents and solutions including detergents, soaps, scouring powders, waxes and polishes Performs a number of routine security functions including checking and securing designated offices and buildings at specific times of the day/night Performs general cleaning, custodial and routine upkeep of properties, grounds and common areas as assigned Assumes responsibility for the safe, sanitary and attractive maintenance of grounds, common areas within assigned locations Performs custodial tasks throughout agency properties, common areas (community rooms), offices and maintenance shops Responds to work orders issued for minor repairs and general upkeep of assigned areas Accounts for basic supplies, materials, tools and equipment stored at areas of assignment Operates agency vehicles (up to 2 ton capacity), as assigned Secondary Tasks of the Position: Other duties as assigned Position Requirements and Qualifications: Education Level Ability to understand English language to an acceptable level for productivity standards, required High school diploma or GED, preferred Experience in Related Field No prior experience, required 1-2 years' experience in maintenance or construction, preferred Prior experience working in public housing setting, preferred Knowledge, skills, abilities, licenses and certifications Ability to maintain confidentiality in all assignments as mandated Ability to work harmoniously with other agency personnel Ability to relate to and interact with elderly/disabled and family residents in low and moderate income housing settings Ability to be flexible and perform work under time pressure Ability and willingness to learn appropriate skills, accept responsibility and to complete assignments, as directed Working knowledge of methods and practices used in janitorial work and maintenance of buildings Working knowledge of proper use of a variety of special cleaning and sanitizing solutions and solvents Working knowledge of English language Ability to read signs and follow verbal and written instructions Ability to move heavy furniture, supplies and equipment Ability to use common cleaning tools and equipment Ability to operate lawn and snow equipment RI Driver's License, preferred
