Under the direction of the Lead Custodian and the general supervision of area manager(s) the incumbent performs
cleaning maintenance assignments in various University buildings and external spaces.
FLSA: Non-exempt (Eligible for overtime compensation)
Anticipated Hiring Range: $3,461 (Step 1) per month - $3,822 (Step 6) per month.
CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,461 per month (Step 1) - $4,752 per month (Step 17).
Salary step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience.

Position Summary
Under the lead work direction of the Lead Custodian and the general supervision of the Day Shift Custodial Manager, the Custodian works independently and side-by-side with a diverse team engaged in cleaning and doing tasks in residence hall buildings that include: hallways, lobbies, stairwells, rooms, studio and suite apartments, warehouse, shops, recreation rooms, kitchens, offices, restrooms, elevators, and laundry room facilities. Cleaning tasks include: dusting, window washing, carpet cleaning, floor high speed and refinishing resilient floors and sealing cement floors, vacuuming, furniture polishing, spot cleaning of walls, refilling product dispersers, mop, scrub, sweep, sanitize and disinfect items and daily removal of trash and/or recyclables. The incumbent is responsible for reporting unsafe and unsanitary conditions, secure buildings and areas.

Under general direction, perform a wide range of cleaning and minor maintenance duties. Oversee temporary employees. This position is filled on an "as needed" basis for all campuses/locations. Distinguishing Characteristics

Supervision Received and Exercised

Job Position Description:
This position is responsible for creating cleaner, healthier environments for our customer', their students and grounds by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be Assigned:
Perform all cleaning duties for facilities using provided ServiceMaster products, tools and procedures
Cleaning duties include: sweeping, mopping, polishing, trash, windows, cleaning, moving furniture and equipment etc..
Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
Use proper PPE where required
Opens and locks facilities, enable and disable security system as required.
1-2 years' experience as a custodian, janitor, housekeeper a plus but not required
Will provide on the job training to those with strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
Experience working for a professional janitorial company, office complex, hotel, hospital or school is a plus.
The ability to be flexible, work at a fast-paced and in a multi-tasked job is a must.
Contribute to a positive work climate with a pleasant attitude and contribute to the overall team effort including being in uniform, dependable and on time
Has respect and understanding for co-workers and customers
Must be able to communicate in English
Physical Demands and Qualifications:
Constant (up to 100%) standing, walking, pushing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, reaching over head, reaching forward. Must be able to lift and and/or carry 25lbs.
