What you'll be doing:
We are looking for an energetic janitor to keep our facilities clean. You will be responsible for maintaining a clean facility by completing a variety of cleaning tasks to keep the buildings looking perfect. To work well in this role, you should have some cleaning experience and basic knowledge of various cleaning products.
Janitor Responsibilities:
General cleaning of the building and keeping it maintained and in good condition.
Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors.
Cleaning and stock restrooms.
Empty trash and recycling bins.
Remove debris and snow from sidewalks.
Ensure doors are locked after hours.
Clean up spills with appropriate equipment.
Perform minor repairs.
Notify supervisors or managers of major repairs.
Complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
Keep cleaning supplies in stock.
Work with a contract cleaning service when necessary.
Other responsibilities as assigned by your supervisor.

The Custodian/ Mover position is responsible for delivery, set-up, and tear down of materials and furniture, project cleaning and other related duties. This is a vehicle and equipment operator position requiring occasional heavy manual lifting.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Loading, delivery and unloading, and set up and tear down of materials, equipment, and furnishings as directed. POSITION DESCRIPTION
Afternoon/Evening Shift Custodian
We seek a team player who takes pride in their work. Under the direction and supervision of the Facilities Manager, the custodian is responsible for maintaining the physical school and campus grounds in a condition that ensures students, staff, and visitors have a safe, clean, and healthy environment.
This is a full time (40 hours per week) position offering health and retirement benefits. Normal shift hours are from 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm Monday through Friday with occasional required weekend overtime. During summer hours, the selected applicant will join the day shift team. Job responsibilities include:
- perform a wide variety of general and semi-skilled janitorial and maintenance activities
- assist with the setup/breakdown of facilities for meetings and events
- operate power equipment, hand tools and maintenance equipment
- follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies
- move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools as required
- follow OSHA safety and code requirements, and adhere to all school policies and safety regulations
- possess flexibility and willingness to accommodate occasional overtime requests
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must have sufficient strength, ability and dexterity to perform required duties
- Regularly required to push and pull objects, stand, squat, stoop, kneel and reach both forward and above the head

Clean chalkboards, white boards, and erasers as well as stock classrooms with chalk, markers, and erasers daily.
Clean building entranceways of trash and other debris that may accumulate at the entranceways.
Report any damage and needed repairs to college property.
Plan, implement and maintain records for projects and major cleaning tasks.
Maintain custodial supply inventory and equipment maintenance in accordance with specified procedures.
Perform furniture set-up arrangements for campus wide internal and external customer events in various buildings throughout campus as directed.
Regular attendance on campus is required for this position.

The job of Custodian was established for the purpose/s of maintaining an attractive, sanitary and safe facility for students, staff and public; providing equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings, classroom activities and events; and minimizing property damage, loss and liability exposure.

Schedule: 8 hrs. day/5 days a week

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Attends in service training (e.g. blood born pathogens, cleaning solvents, floor care, first aid, etc.) for the purpose of receiving information on new and/or improved procedures.
• Cleans assigned school facilities (e.g. classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, pools, grounds, etc.) for the
purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe and attractive environment.
• Delivers various items (e.g. supplies, mail, packages, furniture, etc.) for the purpose of distributing materials to the appropriate parties.
• Evaluates situations (e.g. involving staff, students, parents, the public, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
• Inspects school facilities for the purpose of ensuring that the site is suitable for safe operations, maintained in an attractive and clean condition, and/or identifying necessary repairs due to vandalism, equipment breakage, weather conditions, etc.
• Maintains regular attendance and punctuality for the purpose of ensuring efficient delivery of services to the District.
• Maintains supplies and equipment (e.g. cleaning solutions, paper products, vacuum, mops, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items required to properly maintain facilities.
• Prepares facility for daily operations (e.g. opening gates, building access doors, disarming security systems, raising flag, cross walk signs, minor repairs, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring school facilities are operational and safe.
• Repairs furniture and equipment for the purpose of ensuring that items are available and in safe working condition.
• Responds to immediate safety and/or operational concerns (e.g. facility damage, injured and ill students, alarms, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action to resolve immediate safety issues and maintaining a functioning educational environment.
•Secures facilities and grounds for the purpose of minimizing property damage, equipment loss and potential liability to organization.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Applicants must be able to meet the physical demands of the position. These include, but are not limited to: significant lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling; significant climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and signifcant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 5% sitting, 50% walking and 45% standing.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
High School Diploma or equivalent is REQUIRED. Job-related experience is preferred but not required. Training will be provided to the successful candidate.
