Johnson Mark customer service assistant job description

Johnson Mark LLC is Utah’s premier debt-collection law firm. We represent major banks and financial institutions in collecting debt accounts. We file lawsuits for our clients, moving their cases through all phases of litigation, including case initiation, service, court hearings, trial, judgment, liens, and garnishment. We strive to help consumers work through their financial challenges. Our office locations include Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Oregon, Texas, and Utah. Our Utah office is headquarters for the entire firm.

Our firm’s office is centrally located just west of the I-15 at 4500 South. Our Utah office houses various teams and staff: accounting, administrative, collections, customer service IT, legal, and paralegal; around 40-50 people at this location. We work normal business hours.

The Customer Service Representative / Legal Assistant position is vital to the success of our firm. The work primarily involves fielding incoming phone calls to answer questions and help consumers set up payment plans. It also involves some outbound call campaigns, but that is secondary. In between calls, our representatives help with preparing documents for court filing, following up on payment plans, reviewing and updating case and workflow queues, reviewing case status, skip tracing, and other responsibilities. The team is small and close-knit, typically running 8-10 representatives.

This position is the main entry point for various careers at our firm. We promote from within. Our customer-service representatives regularly advanced to other paralegal, administrative, and commission-earning collection teams within the firm. For example, one of our agents was recently promoted to our post-judgment paralegal team after working at the firm for six months. In fact, we are proud to say that all our managers and executives started in entry-level positions at the firm and grew and developed their skills to handle increasing responsibility and challenges over our seventeen-year history.

We do our very best to maintain an amazing team culture at Johnson Mark. In hiring, we look for three key characteristics in our team members: First, humility; we all try to keep our egos and personal drama in check, play for the team, and help each other win. Second, creative intelligence, or “street smarts,” the ability to learn new things fast, identify and solve problems, etc. Third, drive, or “grit,” self-motivation; eagerness; and determination to succeed, learn, and grow. If you have these three character traits, you’ll be a great fit at our firm.

We encourage you to apply even if you have no prior work experience in the legal industry. If you can demonstrate that you have the three characteristics described above, we will train you. Our team comes from rich diversity of prior work experiences. For example, one of our admin-team members was working as a dishwasher. During the interview we recognized his ability to design and organize workflows. Another recently hired paralegal had been working at a hardware store. While other law firms required that she have years of experience in the legal field, we were impressed by her great attitude and smarts. She is learning fast. We hope you’ll apply too.

**Note that we require our employees pass criminal-background checks, drug tests, and US employment-eligibility checks (I-9).
Pay rate is $16 / hour .
Monthly bonuses / incentives are offered.
PT positions are also an option during normal business hours; let’s discuss.
Benefits package (for FT):
Medical, Dental and Vision (plus much more)
401(k) Plan with Company Match
Short & Long Term Disability
Group Life and AD&D Insurance
Paid Vacation, Holidays, and Personal Days
