Verisk Analytics customs consultant job description
We want to make it easy for our customers to integrate our products and solutions directly into their platforms. We need help doing this. If you have experience working with customers to help them understand how to get maximum value from embedded solutions, and managing the internal capabilities needed in order to make this happen, then we want you as the Customer Consultant- API Integration for our Decision Support Solutions group, part of Verisk Claims Solutions.
The responsibilities for this role are expected to evolve over time as progress is made in this initiative. In the first weeks, you will come to understand our business and the needs our solutions meet for our customers. Within the first month on the job, due to an aggressive timeline, you will begin writing API documentation for our solutions, in accordance with centralized API standards. The API documentation you draft will serve as the backlog and detailed requirements for an API developer or team of developers to build out, according to prioritization established by you, your manager, and client demands. In this phase, experience in project management or as an Agile Product Owner will be beneficial.
Once APIs are built for a sufficient number of our products such that we can meet client requests, the role will transition to a higher degree of customer-facing work - you will be meeting with customers to help them understand how best leverage our APIs and deploy development resources to make integration as easy as possible for our customers.
This will be an individual-contributor role initially, with dotted-line influence over the developer(s) assigned to the initiative. There is opportunity for this to expand into a management position, depending on the opportunity and need created by the initiative's success.
About the Day-to-Day Responsibilities of the Role
A non-exhaustive sample of the activates expected from this role includes:
Consistently striving to understand client needs, and how we can add value to our clients by helping them make their processes more pleasant and more effective through the use of our services
Employing empathy, perspective-taking, and good communication to build strong relationships with customers and colleagues
Writing clear API documentation following centralized guidelines, and being the expert in guiding customers in its use
Serving as Agile Product Owner for the development team assigned to building APIs for our products. This will include creating requirements, and participating in prioritization, standups, etc.
Documenting and reporting on both the successes and failures in your area of responsibility, and adjusting plans based on the documented outcomes
Meeting with and partnering with customers to help them integrate our services into their workflows
Potentially managing and deploying a team of developers to help customers overcome integration hurdles
Bring ideas and perspectives gained from outside experience and customer conversations back to our group to contribute to group strategy
