    Regions Hospital is looking for outstanding Pharmacy Technicians to join our team. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all. This posting will be used to fill multiple roles, both inpatient and outpatient, with various FTEs and shifts available. Our Pharmacy Technicians work under the supervision of the Pharmacy Manager, Pharmacy Technician Supervisor, Lead Pharmacist, Pharmacist, and Certified Lead Pharmacy Technician to assist in the provision of pharmaceuticals to customers of the pharmacy: * Provides customer service to internal and external customers. * Accurately fills and labels medication orders in assigned area. * Assists with inventory management to assure on-hand counts are correct in the computer systems, checks for outdated product on the shelf, and assures that adequate supplies are on hand to facilitate work. * Maintains records in compliance with legal requirements, department policies, and procedures. * Assures the department that the equipment is maintained in a clean and orderly fashion at all times. Work Schedule: * This is a pipeline posting that will be used to fill multiple FTEs and shifts. Required Qualifications for Certified Pharmacy Technicians: * Registered as a pharmacy technician with the Minnesota State Board of Pharmacy. * Current national certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or National Healthcareer Association. Required Qualifications for Pharmacy Technicians: * Registered as a pharmacy technician with the Minnesota State Board of Pharmacy. * Must obtain national certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or National Healthcareer Association within six months of hire. Preferred Qualifications: * Completion of an accredited program for pharmacy technicians or completion of Minnesota Board of Pharmacy technician training requirements if registered as a pharmacy technician after January 1st, 2013. * Six months of related experience in a hospital, community, or institutional pharmacy. This is a posting that will be used to fill multiple FTEs and shifts working in Saint Paul, MN. The full salary range for the Certified Pharmacy Technician is $24.85-$32.23 per hour, and the full salary range for the Pharmacy Technician is $23.17-$30.04 per hour, both based on years of experience, plus shift differentials. These union positions are non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act, and may be eligible for benefits depending on FTE.     Pharmacy 0.5 - 0.8 FTE, 40 to 64 Hours a Pay Period Primary First Shift, Hours between 6:30 am - 10:00 pm Weekends: Every Fourth Weekend Holidays: Every Fourth Under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy, the technician functions daily under the direct supervision of a pharmacist in the Inpatient Hospital Pharmacy. Responsible for the processing, preparation and dispensing of inpatient and outpatient IV and oral medications. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Processes, prepares and dispenses for inpatient and outpatient orders; IV, oral, and unit dose medications. This would include preparing and dispensing medications that are potentially critical and/or high expense. Prepares medications accurately and performs timely distribution to patient care areas. Follows USP and USP requirements in labeling and preparing IV admixtures, IV piggybacks, IV and IM syringes, and other aseptically prepared products. Must be tested and pass every 6 months the media fill, glove fingertip and hand hygiene and garbing to maintain competency. Will be expected to work with and help train and test all personnel that may prepare sterile compounded medications including pharmacy and nursing staff. Trained in high-risk medication preparation such as TPN, and biohazard/chemotherapy medications. Maintains hospital medication stock/inventory in the patient care areas and other departments; includes charging and crediting medications appropriately and performing medication area inspections. Participates in quality assurance logs and records as required. Performs multiple computer functions, facilitates accurate charging/crediting of medications via Cerner programming. Utilizes technical equipment such as barcode software and automated packaging software to provide accurate, safe products for patient administration. Adheres strictly to all established controlled substance protocols, policies and procedures. This would include federal and state regulations and hospital policies and procedures. Prepackage bulk medications into unit dose packages as needed. Checks and restocks emergency crash carts throughout the facility. Takes on and maintains responsibilities for special projects assigned by Pharmacy Technician Supervisor and/or Director of Pharmacy. Assists the pharmacists and others as needed for the provision of customer care, both internal and external. Facilitates in training of new pharmacy technicians and students. May assist in outpatient/retail pharmacy as needed. Maintains confidentiality of patients, families, and staff. Good organization and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize critical work appropriately and assure timely delivery of product to the patient care areas. They are responsible for many of the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy and professionally interacting with patients and other Grand Itasca staff. They perform these duties in accordance with the standards, laws, regulations and policies of the profession, applicable regulating bodies, and the Health System. Here's what you'll do when you join us: Maintain patient profiles including demographic information, medical disease history, medication history, insurance information, easy-open cap information, and cashiering. Prepare appropriate medication, including selecting product counting or reconstituting and packaging product. Prepare extemporaneous compounds after passing compounding competency. Provide limited insurance and third-party billing functions. Perform clerical duties and inventory control to ensure efficient operations of the pharmacy. Answer and direct telephone communications to the appropriate pharmacist or supervisor. Resolve and troubleshoot drug distribution problems. Assist in job development, cross-training, and training new employees and students. Participate in staff meetings, attend and participate in other meetings as necessary. Access the Minnesota Prescription Monitoring Program with suspected drug abuse/diversion behaviors and alert pharmacist if these behaviors or suspected/confirmed abuse is occurring. Perform cash register transactions. If you have these qualifications, we'd love to chat: One-year previous pharmacy experience within the last three years required, or successful completion of the FPS tech 240 Classroom Training. Retail pharmacy experience preferred. Pharmacy technician certification or five years retail pharmacy experience with the ability to obtain certification within six months. Maintain required continuing education for CPhT certification. Pharmacy technician registration with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy. Adhere to the requirements of the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy for pharmacy technicians. Excellent customer service skills, proficient in the English language, good attention to detail, ability to problem solve effectively, ability to follow policies and procedures, basic math skills, basic typing skills and excellent communication skills all highly desired. Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and maintain positive working relationships. Compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, codes and standards of Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital.
