Under the day to day management of the cytogenetics technologist II (CG II), the cytogenetics technologist I (CG I) performs procedural and analytical steps related to chromosome analysis, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), and microarray studies. Is familiar with current ISCN guidelines to describe karyotypes. Correctly analyzes neoplastic and non-neoplastic specimens collected from neonates, children, adolescents, and adults. Applies the principles, theories, and techniques of cytogenetics to produce accurate and reliable results that aid the physician in diagnosis and treatment. Ensures sample suitability and stability. Maintains and ensures functionality, including stocking of reagents and running necessary controls and calibration of laboratory instruments/equipment. Trains new staff and students. Maintains lab in constant inspection ready state. Follows and enforces safety and regulatory compliance. Explores new methodologies and implements new tests as appropriate. Processes and sends out genetic testing not performed in-house.

Key Responsibilities
Assist with laboratory operations, audits, compliance checks, and reporting, including sample collection and handling.
Assist with patient check-in and check-out processes.
Manage and maintain cryogenic storage equipment, including handling and inventorying cryopreserved specimens (sperm, oocytes, embryos).
Coordinate transportation of cryopreserved specimens with third-party vendors while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Maintain accurate patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system and process medical record requests.

We are seeking a full time Laboratory Technician who will be responsible for various laboratory testing including Titrations, ICP analysis, and viscosity testing. This individual will be responsible for following all safety and quality guidelines while maintaining a satisfactory production level. About you:
Ensure that all tasks are performed within time restraints and according to relevant quality and safety policies and procedures.
Use results from test method(s) in calculations to further characterize the data (i.e. Calculated Cetane Index, Viscosity Index, etc.).
Prepare and/or aliquot samples as part of a sample preparation step for all required tests. When applicable load samples on automated instrumentation that has been validated following method quality requirements.
Perform routine daily and/or weekly verification(s) and/or calibration(s) on equipment and instrumentation following method quality requirements. Some methods will require a minimum Level 3 or 4 based on complexity and quality risk level.
Perform analysis on samples through direct testing (i.e. wet chemistry). The minimum level required to perform some methods will vary depending on complexity of the method, safety risk level, and quality risk level.
Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and/or instrumentation as required by the method. The minimum level required to perform preventative maintenance on some equipment and/or instrumentation will vary depending on the complexity of the task, safety risk level and quality risk level.
Perform calculations as required when conducting analytical preparations.
Perform sample preparation for multiple testing requirements.
Perform housekeeping duties as required. This includes assisting with storage and disposal of client samples.
Monitor inventory levels for supplies and reagents required for test methods.
Prepare and maintain standards and reagents. Some standards will require a minimum Level 2 depending on the complexity and quality risk.
Generate, accumulate, handle, work near, transport, and dispose of hazardous wastes.
Collect, store, and label any hazardous waste generated in compliance with the ALS policy.
Contribute to sample receival process including opening packages, sorting mail and data entry.
Participate in shift hand overs to ensure smooth transition.
Identify continuous improvement activities for the site.

About the role:
We are seeking a full time Laboratory Technician who will be responsible for various laboratory testing including Titrations, ICP analysis, and viscosity testing. This individual will be responsible for following all safety and quality guidelines while maintaining a satisfactory production level. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
About you:
* Ensure that all tasks are performed within time restraints and according to relevant quality and safety policies and procedures.
* Use results from test method(s) in calculations to further characterize the data (i.e. Calculated Cetane Index, Viscosity Index, etc.).
* Prepare and/or aliquot samples as part of a sample preparation step for all required tests. When applicable load samples on automated instrumentation that has been validated following method quality requirements.
* Perform routine daily and/or weekly verification(s) and/or calibration(s) on equipment and instrumentation following method quality requirements. Some methods will require a minimum Level 3 or 4 based on complexity and quality risk level.
* Perform analysis on samples through direct testing (i.e. wet chemistry). The minimum level required to perform some methods will vary depending on complexity of the method, safety risk level, and quality risk level.
* Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and/or instrumentation as required by the method. The minimum level required to perform preventative maintenance on some equipment and/or instrumentation will vary depending on the complexity of the task, safety risk level and quality risk level.
* Perform calculations as required when conducting analytical preparations.
* Perform sample preparation for multiple testing requirements.
* Perform housekeeping duties as required. This includes assisting with storage and disposal of client samples.
* Monitor inventory levels for supplies and reagents required for test methods.
* Prepare and maintain standards and reagents. Some standards will require a minimum Level 2 depending on the complexity and quality risk.
* Generate, accumulate, handle, work near, transport, and dispose of hazardous wastes.
* Collect, store, and label any hazardous waste generated in compliance with the ALS policy.
* Contribute to sample receival process including opening packages, sorting mail and data entry.
* Participate in shift hand overs to ensure smooth transition.
* Identify continuous improvement activities for the site.
* Other duties as assigned.

• Maintains proficiency in and follows documented analytical procedures and program to provide QC testing in the Grain Inspection Laboratory.

• Answer internal phone calls regarding product concerns.

The Lab Support Technician collects specimens, performs pre- and post-analytic processing of specimens, accessions, labels and distributes specimens, performs clerical and miscellaneous duties, and assists the technical staff.

Job Responsibilities

* Cleans and stocks phlebotomy supplies at end of shift
* Collection verifies and receipt verifies specimens within expected timeframe
* Processes volume of specimens appropriate for the assigned work area
* Processes samples in a timely manner and within expected timeframe
* Distributes samples to the correct work area within established timeframe
* Follows established guidelines for centrifugation of samples
* Follows established guidelines for aliquoting and preparing samples, including those being sent to a reference lab (labeling, specimen type, volume, storage, and stabilization for transport)
* Creates and processes transport lists according to established protocols
* Performs daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance and performance checks on departmental equipment as assigned and performs other routine maintenance (housekeeping, safety, etc.) in the department
* Handles large workload or unusual working conditions without assistance
* Accounts for all work on logs to assure sample integrity and minimize lost samples.
* Is able to troubleshoot problems identified without assistance.
* Cleanse and stocks work station at the end of the shift
* Serves as a resource to co-workers for problem resolution
* Answers phone promptly in a courteous manner, identifying oneself to the caller.
* Handles phone requests with a minimum of call transfers.
* Coordinates the collection of blood draws ensuring efficient distribution of work.
* Completes collection pool summary
* Reviews lab requisitions for completeness of information and resolves any problems identified in the appropriate manner.
* Properly processes add-on and recollect requests
* Performs departmental filing and clerical needs
* Follows safety policies and procedures in all phases of specimen collection, transportation and processing.
* Performs special procedures to include bleeding times and blood cultures Is knowledgeable in processing unusual send-out specimen, uses provided policies/procedures/guidelines
* Is knowledgeable in handling pathology specimens including frozen sections.
* Assists the technical staff as assigned and within scope of training.
* Duties could include loading analyzers, taking specimens off analyzers, entering organizing specimens for storage.
* Department procedures and policies are reviewed in a timely manner
* Mandatory continuing education modules are completed within the established time frame without individual reminders
* Technical competencies are completed within the established time frame without individual reminder
* Participates in continuing education opportunities such as the CAP competency assessment program.
Education and Experience Requirements:
* High school diploma or GED.
* Completion of formal phlebotomy training preferred.
* Phlebotomy experience preferred.
* Keyboarding skills preferred.
* Ability to effectively and efficiently perform job duties in a fast-paced environment.
