Purpose of Role Perform a variety of cleaning duties to maintain the cleanliness of assigned areas. About This Opportunity Joining our Maintenance team, the 1st Shift Housekeeping will be responsible for the following: Dispose of trash from bins and containers. Dust, polish, sanitize and clean surface areas. Perform general sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming of floors and stairs. Service restrooms; clean and disinfect sinks, communal surfaces, and toilets. Clean glass surfaces and mirrors. Ensure bathrooms are stocked with toilet paper and soap. Ensure walkways are free and clear of debris. Notify management of deficiencies or needs for repairs. Follow all health and safety regulations. Deep cleaning of dormitory/student apartment showers, bathrooms, stoves, refrigerators, bedrooms, etc. during the summer breaks. All other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements: Physically able to reach, stretch, bend, and walk during the daily routine, with the ability to stand for long lengths of time. Ability to push a vacuum cleaner for extended periods of time. Ability to lift up to 25 to 30 pounds. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Ability to follow directions, verbal and written. Ability to follow department Uniform Policy. Valid driver's license for maintenance workers assigned to pick up trash collected from buildings. Total Compensation Daemen University offers a robust total compensation package that includes: Health insurance with an option of two plans: an HSA plan with the deductible funded by employer HSA contributions, or a copay plan. Job Duties * Clean the entire residence, including personal living quarters, on a designated schedule and in consideration of the event schedule, including but not limited to dusting, mopping, vacuuming, polishing, disinfecting, buffing. waxing, washing, ironing event linens, spot cleaning and trash removal * Cleaning duties include both interior and exterior spaces * Launder household items including washing, drying, ironing, folding and putting away, and changing bed and bath linens as scheduled or needed * Develop and maintain inventory of needed household and cleaning supplies * Monitor equipment and fixtures at the residence (e.g., lighting, kitchen equipment, cleaning equipment, etc.) to ensure proper working order, and make recommendations or arrange for updating or repair as needed * Personal assistance to the President and President's household as needed * Collaboration with other College departments and external vendors to ensure that the residence is properly and efficiently cleaned and maintained * Occasional evening and weekend work * Other duties as assigned or requested * Must have a minimum of three years of professional cleaning experience with excellent professional references * Excellent working knowledge of cleaning solutions and methods, as well as cleaning appliances and their operations * Demonstrated initiative and professionalism are a must * Position requires a high level of confidentiality, discretion and excellent judgement * Candidate must be both hard working and flexible by nature * A positive demeanor and good verbal communication skills are required Physical Requirements * The ability to stand or extended periods of time * The ability to climb, balance, bend/stoop, and kneel continuously * The physical ability to occasionally climb on a ladder to heights in excess of three feet * The physical ability to frequently crouch, push/pull, squat and work above the shoulders during the performance of the daily job routine * The physical ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds of weight both on flat surfaces and up and down stairs Please submit a cover letter, resume and the contact information for three references on Interfolio. Prepare meals to use in cooking; chopping/peeling/cutting meat Cook utilizing various methods; utensils/grills/ovens Be able to measure ingredients as recipe calls for Maintain accurate food inventories Ensure all food not utilized stored properly Report any maintenance needs or hazardous conditions to Manager or Maintenance Person. Notify supervisor immediately if house or appliances need repair. Be familiar with and follow OPWDD regulations regarding food, kitchen area. Meet with nutritionist in setting up appropriate dietary menus for individuals in residence Help schedule and plan parties for special occasions. Answer telephone in a courteous and professional manner & take appropriate messages. Be familiar with and follow OPWDD regulations regarding food, kitchen area Additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor. What you bring to DDI: Ability to follow both verbal and written directions. Proven experience as a cook ( at least one year experience) Ability to work well with staff members and the individuals we support. Ability to cook following menus and meal preparation guidelines. Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 25 lbs. Must be in good physical condition and be able to bend, twist, and reach in the performance of your duties.
