JOB TITLE: Maintenance Technician II DEPARTMENT: Facilities REPORTS TO: Facilities Manager & Director of Facilities Operations SALARY: $55,000 per year Reports to the Executive Director of Facilities. Responsible for performing mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Team leader and point person between personnel and management. Review, respond, and assign work orders and daily tasks in a timely manner via the work order system (CMMS). Set priorities and tasks for day-to-day assignments. The Maintenance Mechanic III is responsible for activities associated with construction projects including forklift and scissor lift operations. Under general supervision the incumbent in this position is responsible for the efficient operation of the print and mail center, including daily workflow prioritization, maintaining supplies, printing, binding, folding inserting, cutting, collating and filing for assigned projects. The incumbent will work closely with faculty and staff on a daily basis, so customer service skills, proficiency with email and other computer software, and communication skills are crucial. Work is performed independently as a result of written or oral instructions. The incumbent serves as a technical lead for others. Incumbents may function independently and without direct supervision. Off-shift assignments, outside normal business hours, may be required to accommodate unit needs. Additional duties include responsibility for routine maintenance and cleaning of the equipment. * Plans daily workflow, scheduling production of printing projects, bulk mail, reports and walk-in projects; * Manipulates database software to create efficient and cost-effective mailing address lists to meet project objectives and facilitate bulk mailing operations; * Utilizes specialized software applications and equipment for bulk mailing, print production and finishing; * Uses computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and database software in performing work assignments; * Maintains logs for print center production billings, reporting work volume, etc.; * Sets up production and monitors non-complex compilation and collating of projects using specialized software for printing and binding; * Cuts, prints, compiles, folds, collates and binds materials using specialized applications and equipment to ensure meeting job specifications; * Reviews assembled projects for accuracy and quality control; * Prepares finished production projects for effective delivery to clients or U.S.P.S.; * Maintains, cleans and makes minor repairs and adjustments on equipment used within the print production and mail center; * Maintains work area in a clean, orderly and safe condition; * Assists in ordering and maintaining supplies and materials for the proper daily operation and maintenance of equipment; * Assists in training personnel assigned to the print production and mail delivery teams; * Assists in facilitating interdepartmental mail delivery services; * May assist in monitoring datacenter environmental factors such as heat and humidity * May perform other duties as required. Requirements: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess: * High school or equivalency diploma * Three (3) years of experience for which a primary focus of the position was the operation and maintenance of modern printing, collating, and/or binding equipment, or closely related machinery. Substitution: Thirty (30) college credits may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to two (2) years of the required experience. The Maintenance Mechanic I (Grounds) is a member of the College's Buildings & Grounds Department. The incumbent: * Participates in landscape improvements, including grading, planting and pruning or removal of trees, shrubs and the installation special design shrub and floral beds, to improve the appearance of College property; * Mows and removes leaves to maintain grounds appearance; and sands & plows for safety; * Maintains planted material by watering, re-seeding, and performing fertilizing, pest, disease and weed control, etc., ensuring that the plantings remain healthy and attractive; * Plants, mows, and prunes trees & hedges, weeds, cleans up leaves and litter, etc. in order to maintain the appearance and health of plantings; * Performs routine and emergency repairs and maintenance, both scheduled and in response to emergency situations, as required; * Maintains and repairs roads, walkways, curbs, etc., ensuring safety; and cleans & repairs catch basins, in order to ensure effective operation; * All other duties, as assigned. Requirements: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess: * A minimum of three years of experience in gardening, landscaping or grounds keeping OR * Completion of an appropriate two (2) year technical school course. The incumbent must also have possession of a valid New York State Driver/Operator's License appropriate to the equipment operated at the time of appointment and maintenance of the same while in the title. Depending on the work assignment, the incumbent must meet the standards of OSHA regulation 1910.134 Respiratory Protection and will be required to meet federal, state and local standards with respect to health and safety. Depending on the work assignment, the incumbent may also be required to be a Certified Pesticide Applicator in New York State, within the appropriate category at the time of appointment and maintain the same while in the title.
