Daikin Applied history

Since the 1930’s, highly successful companies such as Remington, Singer, American Air Filter, Perfex, American Furnace Company, Westinghouse, Herman Nelson Company etc. merged into the unique brand name of McQuay.

1933 - McQuay’s name first appeared in Minneapolis, USA, supplying and servicing heating, ventilating and air conditioning products, manufacturing radiators and heat exchanger coils.

1965 - McQuay International established a new division in Italy, McQuay Europe, manufacturing water chillers.

McQuay started life in the UK in 1966 producing air handling and air filtration equipment.

Founded in 1968 from a 50/50 joint venture between McQuay International USA and an Italian partner, the company rapidly grew in the ‘70s, establishing as a European leader in the market.

Almost all the technologies were manufactured in-house, and the company stood out since the beginning for high efficiency levels and the unique range of capacities offered – in 1982 McQuay was already offering the largest chiller package on the market.

In 1984 McQuay Europa became a wholly owned subsidiary of McQuay International Inc, and the whole group was acquired by Company Snyder General Corporation (Dallas – USA).

1994 - AAF McQuay group merged with the leader in the air-filtration industry; AAF International, and with one of the oldest refridgeration companies in the world, J&E Hall who were the first to introduce the “single screw” compressor technology.

In 2006 McQuay and Daikin teamed up for a brilliant future in the Applied industry, complementing each other in terms of products, engineering, research potentials, and geographical production facility coverage.

2008 - New factory established in Milan, Italy dedicated to the production of air handling units.

Another big acquisition happened during the summer of 2012, when Daikin acquired Goodman Global from an equity company in San Francisco, which is called Hellman & Friedman.

By 2013, Daikin-McQuay became Daikin.

In 2014, then, the company changed its name to Daikin Applied Europe.
