    Support Cass City's quality program activities perform laboratory analyses with documentation and manage laboratory areas and equipment. Maintain laboratory and associated areas in an orderly and clean manner in accordance to 5S methodology, which is to create a clean orderly environment where there is a place for everything and everything is in its place Perform sampling of raw milk, in-process, or finished products for analyses Perform chemical, physical, and microbiological testing of in-process and finished products Complete lab analytical testing records and monitor records for compliance / trending Report non-compliant laboratory analytical testing results to the QA Manager (Plant Manager) Maintain laboratory records in a timely, accurate, and legible manner following laboratory best practices Calibrate and maintain laboratory instrumentation per vendor recommendations and/or laboratory best practices Perform preventive maintenance, function verification, and quality control tasks Wash lab utensils and glassware Receive, stock, and inventory lab supplies and reagents Prepare and stock reagents and media Prepare labeling of testing analysis samples to testing laboratories Perform inventory control management Maintain and verify accuracy of documents Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues Dedicate effort to safety as we expect every employee to leave work in the same condition as they arrived Participate in weekly safety observation program Participate in monthly GMP inspection program Exhibit the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, and sound judgement Follow all Dairy Farmers of America GMP's and work in a manner consistent with all corporate and regulatory quality and sanitation requirements Adhere to all DFA Quality, Safety, and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity Attend required training, including but not limited to, Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF) The requirements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employee, but is not a complete list of responsibilities, duties and skills required. Communicate weekly with Quality Manager Complete monthly air monitoring sampling and manage documentation for program. Communicate monthly with Quality Manager Organize and perform data entry of PEM program COA's, Finished goods - powder results of COA's micro results and other records as requested on SAP system Support Quality Plan Requirements and HACCP Program; assist in the monitoring of CQP‘s in facility. SUMMARY STATEMENT The Laboratory Technician I - Product Department will accurately prepare, conduct, and report sample analyses for microbiological and analytical testing procedures on food/dairy, as well as pathogen testing. All work must be performed in accordance with approved standard operating procedures (SOP) and quality control guidelines. This position will be responsible for ensuring testing services are conducted within anticipated laboratory turn-times. RESPONSIBILITIES Accurately prepare, conduct, and report sample analyses according to laboratory SOP for designated tests. Calibrate basic laboratory instrumentation according to laboratory SOP. Prepare samples and execute analysis with a high degree of accuracy to ensure quality results. Thoroughly complete appropriate documentation including calibration logs, solution logs, scoop / bench sheets, reports of analysis and corrective action forms. Report results of analysis in a timely manner according to standard laboratory turn-times. Perform and monitor quality control checks for designated tests to ensure they fall within acceptable thresholds. Assess corrective action steps for failing or inconsistent quality control checks and report to immediate supervisor.     The Laboratory Technician will assist with the production of high-quality cannabis extracts along with cleaning and maintaining laboratory and equipment, recording and entering data, and associated tasks. The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for the consistent, sanitary and safe production of cannabis extracts and infused products utilizing company policies to successfully uphold quality and consistency of all products produced in compliance with State of Ohio medical marijuana laws and legislation. The individual has the responsibility of extracting, refining, and purifying cannabinoids and terpenes from cannabis plant material into a concentrated form using solvents and solvent processes. Essential Job Functions: * Follow Standard Operating Procedures for the daily operation of the lab and fully comply with state laws and regulations * Perform stripping, grinding, and decarboxylation of cannabis materials * Perform CO2 and butane extraction of cannabis materials * Perform post-extraction processes, including wax removal, solvent recovery, wiped film distillation, and mixing for vape pens * Production of infused products including but not limited to edibles and patches * Assist with the creation of batch production records and maintain a detailed log of procedures and results * Examine product samples during production to evaluate quality, color, and texture * Perform necessary equipment maintenance and safety checks in accordance with manufacturer specifications * Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices * Follow established sanitation practices for staff, equipment, and facilities to ensure quality measures are met to maintain high quality of product * Other duties as assigned by your supervisor Qualifications: Required: * Must be at least 21 years of age * Must have a high school diploma, or the equivalent * Must be able to pass all background check and licensing requirements as set forth by the state for working in the medical cannabis industry * Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation * Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language Preferred: * Prior experience in a cannabis production lab * Prior laboratory experience, helpful Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: This section outlines the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for the Laboratory Technician to be successful in their role.
