JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform maintenance and/or repairs (planned, unplanned, emergency) on production, processing, and packaging equipment as well as utility related equipment or systems, following all safety procedures
Perform preventative maintenance; perform routine inspections of equipment for assessment of reliability and performance
Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
Support the installation of new equipment
Assist operators with training or troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime
Complete work orders in a timely manner, while maintaining high quality standards
Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties
Maintain communication with other departments, management, and employees and notify them of any problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production
Ensure all repairs are documented. Complete all paperwork clearly, legibly, and accurately with required information. Document all required information in accordance with standard operations procedures
Stay up to date on new products, equipment, technology and techniques
Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes
Exhibit the ability to anticipate parts requirements for the tasks, follow proper purchasing procedures, and acquire parts ahead of anticipated task performance
Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues
Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements

Position Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for the preventative and reactive maintenance of all equipment throughout the Plant.
Responsibilities:
Ability to troubleshoot PLC issues, VFD drive issues, HMI, conveyors.
Read electrical schematics effectively
Estimate labor and material costs for replacement, repair, alterations and improvements of Plant equipment
Account for parts inventory and report to Supervisor or Manager
Perform installation of pneumatic, mechanical, and electronic equipment.
Perform the maintenance and repair work of Plant equipment and facility up keep
Respond to emergency site maintenance as required, confer and advise Plant Manager and other personnel regarding maintenance projects and priorities.
Performs preventative maintenance such as oiling and greasing to include repairing faulty electrical wires, replace fuses, and replace damaged parts within the Plant equipment.
Monitor equipment for proper working conditions and usage.
Responsible for practicing and maintaining food safety
Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Maint. supervisor or Manager by the established completion dates.
Train equipment operators
Working Relationships: This position requires significant interaction with the Plant Manager, Quality Assurance Manager, Production and Sanitation Supervisor in order to communicate maintenance needs of the Plant equipment.
Requirements
Minimum Education: Trade High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Education: Associates degree in related discipline.
Minimum Experience: 2 years of experience as an Equipment MaintenanceTechnician. The candidate must have some mechanical and electronics training. Also, must be able to follow equipment manufacturer drawings/sketches and instructions. .
Preferred Experience: 3 years of experience working as an Equipment MaintenanceTechnician. Should have knowledge of electronics, interpreting of schematics, pneumatic systems and ability to work from equipment manufacturer drawings/sketches and instructions. Should have a valid 2nd class fireman license.
Licenses/Certifications: N/A
Soft Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact with all levels of management and personnel within the organization and external contacts. Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.

Role Overview:

HOWDEN, SULLAIR, & MYCOM Ammonia Compressors, condensers, valve stations.

Maintain these components in the best operating condition to provide adequate temperatures required by Food Industry Standards.

Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment including but not limited to packaging equipment, machines, and other proprietary systems and machines.

Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

Requirements Include:

Perform tasks to keep school buildings and building and grounds in orderly, neat, and clean condition such as clearing disposing of trash, cleaning bathrooms and floors, washing windows, dusting furniture and fixtures, mowing grass, and related tasks.
Perform tasks to maintain buildings and grounds in safe and operable condition, such as making minor repairs to property as requested, clearing snow and ice, and related tasks.
Inspect equipment and facilities, and recommends repair or replacement action to supervisor.
Regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical use of fuel, water, and electricity.
Check all building entrances/exits to ensure that they are working properly
Open and close building and ensure that all doors and windows are closed and securely locked prior to leaving.
Maintain motors and other mechanical equipment and ensure that such equipment receives scheduled servicing.
Obtain equipment, tools and materials required for completion of assigned work.
Maintain inventory of supplies, materials, equipment, and fuel, and places orders as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operations of maintenance tasks.
Inspect equipment and facilities, and recommends repair or replacement action to supervisor.
Prepare and maintains records to document work and repairs as requested.

Additional hours may be required during emergencies.
Must complete other tasks as requested.
Working Conditions: Full Time Tenure Track
Salary: Ranges from $48,222.00-$65,762.00

Responsibilities:
Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions
Dismantle machines, equipment, or devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, or power tools
Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions
Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary
Repair machines, equipment, or structures, using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, or equipment such as precision measuring instruments or electrical or electronic testing devices
Interact with customers in a professional and friendly manner
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a handyman / general maintenance
Knowledge of job site safety rules and regulations (OSHA)
Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in carpentry
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Must be qualified to perform at heights above thirty (30) feet with the use of a ladder, lift, or bucket truck boom
Ability to lift 40+ lbs on a consistent basis
