Dallas Baptist University company history timeline

1898

Decatur Baptist College, the forerunner of Dallas Baptist University, opened its doors in 1898 as the first two-year institution of higher education in Texas.

1965

In October 1965, Dallas Baptist College began offering classes for a first class of over 900 students.

After moving to Dallas in 1965, DBU has maintained its roots to Decatur and its commitment to a Baptist heritage.

1992

In 1992, the John G. Mahler Student Center, the first new building on the DBU campus in more than 20 years was dedicated.

2001

In 2001, DBU-North opened in Carrollton, Texas as DBU's first regional academic center, serving North Dallas and Collin County.

2002

Commentary on the Mission Statement of DBU (2002, April) by the late Doctor David Naugle, noted author, lecturer, and former chair and professor of philosophy at DBU.

2005

DBU also opened DBU-Hurst-Colleyville at Hurst in the Summer of 2005.

2011

In the fall of 2011, the university opened the Joan and Andy Horner Hall.

2015

In 2015, Jim and Sally Nation Hall opened its doors.
