Prior to that, Crowley was executive vice president and general manager of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program responsible for the design, development, and transition to production of the three fighter variants and logistics system. He served as president of Lockheed’s Simulation, Training and Support business; vice president of Business Development and Advanced Programs for Space and Strategic Missiles; deputy program manager for the Special Programs classified space line of business, and the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) program for the Missile Defense Agency; vice president for Commercial Space Systems; and plant manager for the Atlas/Centaur launch vehicle factory. He also held management positions at the company’s Calabasas and Bethesda headquarters. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in manufacturing systems engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He also received a master’s degree in management from Stanford University as a Sloan Fellow.
