Under general supervision, the **Research Assistant I** **(RA)** supports the Cutaneous Oncology research department and a faculty member's research program, performing varied tasks that evolve with project aims, scope, and duration. Responsibilities include recruiting and enrolling research participants-in person and remotely-such as consenting for minimal-risk biobanking trials; coordinating project activities and team meetings; and managing logistics, including slide deck preparation, meeting scheduling, agendas, and minutes.
The RA also generates database reports (e.g., missing-data summaries and frequency tables), facilitates coordination with scientific collaborators, and assists with manuscript preparation by gathering and formatting references and contributing to scientific writing as needed. The RA may occasionally assume project-management duties to support investigator-initiated trials.
**This position's work location is** **hybrid** **with two or three days per week onsite.** **The selected candidate may only work remote** **days** **from a New England state (ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI).**

+ Assist team in the coordination of project-related activities (ie. surveys/interviews) at internal or external (on-site & off-site) study sites.

Research assistant job at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
The laboratories led by Rameen Beroukhim and Bill Kaelin seek a research assistant to spearhead collaborative, translational projects to find new ways to treat brain cancers. This project is also being led by an experienced MD-PhD physician-scientist who will provide day-to-day mentorship about both experimental and analytic strategies to move the projects forward and career development. Both Drs. Beroukhim and Kaelin are also physician scientists who will provide similar mentorship on a weekly to biweekly basis. The experiments involve a combination of high-throughput functional genomics, descriptive genomics, and work with both cell line and mouse model systems, and are aimed to identify new therapeutic targets in brain cancers that are currently always fatal.
We are looking for a person who will think independently and take ownership of their research projects. We welcome all levels of input from our research technicians, including input on the conduct of experiments but also on new experiments to conduct and new questions to ask. Research technicians in our laboratory regularly present their own work and contribute to the writing of papers and grant applications.

POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking an energetic, motivated, detail-oriented Research Assistant to support a SafeSpot intervention study which aims to develop, implement and evaluate an intervention to engage overdose survivors to use an overdose prevention hotline and reduce their unwitnessed substance use.
The Research Assistant will support the multidisciplinary research team by recruiting and retaining study participants, collecting study data through a variety of methods (questionnaires, qualitative interviews, focus groups, proof of concept trials), and additional day-to-day study activities. This is a primarily in-person position. The ideal candidate will have experience working with people who use substances and a strong interest in public health, harm reduction, and substance use.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative:
* Generate weekly recruitment and retention status reports for team meetings and take meeting notes
* Assist with presentations and manuscripts development
Study Related Tasks:
* Support coordination and the conduct of focus group sessions for intervention development, assist with content analysis
* Recruit and screen study participants admitted to the hospital and from post overdose programs, harm reduction organizations, and street outreach
* Conduct informed consent procedures, complete study assessments/qualitative interviews with participants and enter data
* Regularly contact participants to retain them for the duration of the study
* Maintain and update study documentation (e.g. study trackers, logs, progress notes, etc.)

Job Summary
The Research Assistant II will be involved in coordinating the clinical research activities and quality improvement data management and analysis for the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) of the Cardiovascular Division at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Qualifications

Job Summary

Under general supervision, the Research Assistant I (RA) supports the Cutaneous Oncology research department and a faculty member's research program, performing varied tasks that evolve with project aims, scope, and duration. Responsibilities include recruiting and enrolling research participants-in person and remotely-such as consenting for minimal-risk biobanking trials; coordinating project activities and team meetings; and managing logistics, including slide deck preparation, meeting scheduling, agendas, and minutes.

Responsibilities
* Assist team in the coordination of project-related activities (ie. surveys/interviews) at internal or external (on-site & off-site) study sites.

GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT: The MGH Special Processing Laboratory (SPL) provides pre-analytical laboratory services involved in preparing research samples obtained from patients enrolled in clinical trials of investigational cancer treatments for storage and shipment. The primary responsibilities of this position involve processing samples according to specific written procedures for short term storage until packaged for shipment to external laboratories. Additionally, the position assumes the overall responsibility for managing the storage of samples received by the SPL and executing their shipment to other facilities such as external sponsors, contracted reference laboratories, and other research laboratories at MGH. Contacts service if necessary, according to departments standard operating procedures. - If required, reports to campus to assist with the transfer of samples from a non-functional freezer to an operating freezer. - Monitors the inventory of the laboratories dry ice supply. - Manages orders from primary and secondary suppliers as needed. - Transfers dry ice from vendor supplied boxes to central dry ice box supplies (requires lifting boxes up to 50 pounds). - Transports packages to the MGH Mail Room for courier service pick up. - Requires walking to and from other areas of the hospital. - Requires lifting packages that are light to moderately heavy. - Assist with or perform any other tasks as directed by senior SPL staff.

Job Summary
Dr. Edlow's basic and translational research in the Vincent Center for Reproductive Biology (VCRB) at Massachusetts General Hospital focuses on neurodevelopmental and metabolic programming effects of maternal immune activation in pregnancy (either by obesity, maternal high-fat diet, or viral/bacterial infections in pregnancy). The work is both with mouse models and with human samples (maternal and cord blood, placenta, breastmilk, among others). Our laboratory performs highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary research that spans the fields of developmental biology, immunology, infectious diseases, metabolism, and neuroscience.
The Research Technician reports directly to the Principal Investigator and is expected to work independently on assigned research with guidance from a higher-level lab member (e.g. Research Scientist, Postdoctoral Fellow) and/or the Principal Investigator. Experience with tissue dissection and preservation for RNA and immunohistochemical analyses, molecular techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction from tissues, and tissue sectioning and staining is preferred but not required. The Technician will assist with the laboratory's ongoing research projects studying the neurodevelopmental and metabolic programming effects of immune activation (via obesity, high-fat diet and/or viral infection) in pregnancy and lactation, using both mice and mouse tissues, and samples from human research participants (examining impacts of both viral infection and/or vaccination in pregnancy). With broad guidance from the supervisor, the Technician will learn to independently perform experiments to accomplish laboratory research goals. In addition, s/he/they will be responsible for documenting, analyzing, and reporting the results derived from mouse models and/or patient samples. The Technician may assist in the preparation of manuscripts for publication, with opportunities for authorship and mentorship in writing scientific papers if desired. The individual will also assist with gathering information needed for grant preparation and reporting and must be proficient in basic computer skills including word-processing, database and spreadsheet management, email and internet. * Write, test, and troubleshoot computer code to contribute to the development of custom software tools for image analysis and visualization
* Handle and prepare post mortem brain samples for imaging
* Perform and troubleshoot MRI and/or optical imaging scans of post mortem brain samples
* Assist with quality assurance, pre-processing, and annotation of imaging data
* Assist with maintaining lab documentation and software repositories
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
* Strong mathematical skills, as evidenced by relevant coursework. The ideal candidate will have a degree in engineering, applied math, computer science, or related field, and an interest in learning about neuroscience and imaging.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The position involves working in MRI or optical imaging facilities with fixed post mortem brains, as well as working in a computer lab. Flexibility to perform or monitor data acquisition on evenings or weekends, depending on scheduling constraints of the respective imaging facilities, is required.

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator the Research Technician will provide laboratory and clinical translational research assistance for optical imaging methods in a variety of settings (healthy volunteers, cardiac surgery patients, neurocritical care, cardiovascular care, breast imaging, etc…) led by the MGH Martinos Center Optics Division. The position is based at the Martinos Center at the MGH Charlestown Navy Yard campus, under the supervision of Dr. Stefan Carp.
Job Summary
The position will offer an opportunity to participate in cutting edge research in optical and multi-modal imaging in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of investigators at the Martinos Center and in several clinical departments within the hospital. The RT will work independently under the general direction of the PI to coordinate research studies and assist in data analysis and research reporting.The position will involve: performing laboratory-based measurements for instrument validation and testing, performing measurements on human subjects and occasionally on animal models, performing data analysis, and assisting in the recruitment of subjects and in the preparation and maintenance of human subject research (IRB) protocols and associated documentations. The RT will also have an opportunity to help the PI and other members of the team with developing new data processing and analysis methods. Occasionally the human subject measurements will need to performed after hours and on the weekends (some of the intensive care studies rely on recruiting patients as soon as possible after admission and cannot be planned ahead of time).

The candidate will work under the direct supervision of Dr. Jose Ordovas-Montanes and be closely integrated within a community of senior scientists, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows. This role offers the opportunity to develop a wide range of experimental and computational skills while working in an interdisciplinary environment with access to resources across Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. The ideal candidate is motivated to understand the biological principles underlying infection-induced inflammatory diseases and may be interested in pursuing future postgraduate education.
Key Responsibilities:
* Independently perform complex experimental workflows, help optimize protocols, and generate high-quality data for single-cell genomics and airway epithelial biology studies.
* Troubleshoot specialized assays.
* Support and train junior lab members as needed.
* Performs routine and highly specialized lab experiments using sophisticated and intricate research equipment and techniques. Performs and devises specialized experiments and research procedures, troubleshooting problems with own and other researchers' results.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
* Bachelor's degree in biology, immunology, genomics, chemistry, or a related field is required. Master's degree preferred but not required.
Experience:

* Demonstrated experience performing mammalian cell culture, ideally primary airway epithelial culture or similar complex systems.
