The Sr. Manager, Controls and Automation Filtration is responsible for electrical controls of manufacturing equipment projects that improve our ability to efficiently produce our life changing products. This position reports to the Sr. Director of Advanced Engineering and is part of the Manufacturing Technology team located in Pensacola, FL and will be an on-site role. This role also encompasses associates located in our Puerto Rico and UK facilities. Travel up to 30% . What you will do: * Use insights from Gemba to identify valuable problems to solve and build cases for new equipment designs and manufacturing technologies. * Research alternative technologies to establish state-of-the-art, then design, build and test solutions, working with third-party vendors and contractors as required. * Commission, qualify and validate new manufacturing technologies, managing these changes according to safety, quality and regulatory standards. * Support troubleshooting of existing equipment(alongside plant personnel), identify opportunities for continuous improvements, and implement technology upgrades. * Participate in activities to define and deploy global specifications for equipment across our manufacturing plants. * Directly manage a global team of Automation and Controls Engineers, set strategy and direction Who you are: * Bachelor's Degree in relevant science or engineering discipline e.g. Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering. * 5 years of previous management experience. * Substantial experience in relevant instrumentation and controls including Electrical Hardware, PLC's, Software, SCADA, Historian, HMI, data reporting and network architecture design. * Must have knowledge and application experience in electrical safety systems (i.e. SIL, ISO 13849), and electrical equipment specifications relevant to the standards in the industry(NEC, NFPA, ISO). * Practical "hands-on" expertise in controls design, build and test of industrial equipment manufacturing systems. Experience with PLC Software, electrical panel design, specifications of said systems and the commissioning of automated machinery in a manufacturing environment. * Capable of coordinating your own work plus that of others, with schedules, budget and timelines including contracted third parties, via visual and daily management. * Experience with electrical control systems in a hazardous environment It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: * Procedures associated with the management of change in a regulated industry and, specifically, commissioning, qualification and validation. * Development and implementation of automated batch process control, including recipe management. Knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical applications would be beneficial. The Role As a Site Security Leader, you will be responsible for leading security and fire protection activities at your assigned worksite including implementation of Global Security policies and standards, oversight of contract security services and quality assurance. Position Summary * Provide strategic direction and oversight to contracted site security leader and team. * Provide quality assurance support (to include quality audits) and ensure compliance with GM Global Security Manual and site specific Standard Operating Procedures. * Provide support and guidance to local site operations and leadership to ensure effective implementation of security and fire protection measures. * Maintain regular communication with GM site leadership and stakeholders (including but not limited to Site Director, HR/LR Director, Manufacturing Engineering, Workplace Safety, Facilities, etc.) regarding security and fire protection compliance and other emerging issues. * Initiate continuous improvement activities to ensure high quality and cost-effective security and fire protection services are provided to assigned site. * Partner with GM Security Technology team to identify opportunities for security system upgrades based on lifecycle, risk reduction and efficiency. * Ensure adequate security staffing is in place to mitigate risk and comply with minimum GM requirements. Research and make recommendations on the implementation of best practices and other key initiatives. * Complete site security vulnerability assessments and ensure appropriate communication to leadership to support compliance and risk reduction. * Provide recommendations on security and fire related operations, policy, and technology applications to GM site leadership and Global Security. * Assure all incidents are reported, documented, and communicated in accordance with procedures. * Conduct after action reviews following significant incidents, identify incident trends and ensure appropriate corrective action is communicated, tracked and completed. We are seeking an experienced **Staff Systems Engineer** to lead systems engineering efforts for our embedded AV/ADAS platform. You will be responsible for defining and managing system-level requirements and architectures, optimizing resource allocation across computational and networking subsystems, and working closely with software and hardware teams to ensure seamless integration of vehicle platform components. This role is highly collaborative, strategic, and technical, influencing platform roadmaps and long-term technical direction. Key Responsibilities + Lead the end-to-end systems engineering for embedded autonomous vehicle (AV) and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) platforms. + Define, document, and manage system-level requirements, ensuring traceability and alignment with product and safety goals. + Develop and maintain system architecture, balancing trade-offs in compute resources (CPU, GPU, NPU), memory (RAM), and communication bandwidth (Ethernet). + Perform system resource allocation, profiling, and optimization to meet performance, power, latency, and reliability targets. + Collaborate cross-functionally with software architecture, firmware, hardware, validation, and vehicle integration teams to ensure cohesive system design and implementation. + Drive technical roadmap planning and contribute to strategic decisions on future platform capabilities and scalability. + Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies related to system integration and performance. + Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence and innovation within the team. Required Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Master's or PhD preferred. + Minimum 8+ years of systems engineering experience, ideally within embedded systems, automotive, robotics, or related industries. + Proven track record of leading system architecture design and resource allocation for complex embedded platforms. + Deep understanding of AV/ADAS domain including embedded computing platforms, sensor integration, and real-time constraints. + Strong expertise in system performance analysis and optimization, including CPU/GPU/NPU architectures, memory hierarchies, and network bandwidth management. + Experience with platform systems engineering: device power management, I/O, internal & external communication + Experience with edge compute SoC and MCU architectures. + Hands-on experience with system modeling, simulation tools, and requirements management frameworks. + Experience working with Ethernet-based automotive networks (e.g., Automotive Ethernet, TSN). + Familiarity with safety standards and practices (ISO 26262, ASPICE) is a plus. + Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-disciplinary teams. + Proven ability to navigate and solve problems characterized by high ambiguity Preferred Qualifications + Advanced degree (MS or PhD) with a focus on embedded systems, systems engineering, or related fields. + Experience with embedded Linux or RTOS environments in automotive or robotics applications. + Knowledge of AV software stacks, middleware, and sensor data processing pipelines. + Familiarity with system-level debugging, profiling, and telemetry tools. + Prior experience at a leading AV company or tier 1 automotive supplier. + Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring engineers and leading technical projects. + Understanding of power management and thermal constraints in embedded platforms. + Experience contributing to strategic technical roadmaps and platform evolution. **Hybrid:** This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Technical Center in Warren, MI OR the Sunnyvale Technical Center in Sunnyvale, CA three times per week, at minimum. **Remote:** This role is based remotely but if you live within a 50-mile radius of [Atlanta, Austin, Detroit, Warren, Milford, Sunnyvale or Mountain View], you are expected to report to that location three times per week, at minimum. **Compensation** **:** The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws.
