The Staff Quality Assurance Engineer or Scientist is responsible for facilitating application of quality system and design control processes with teams across Beckman Coulter Life Science products including instrumentation, software and consumables.
This position reports to the Senior Manager Quality Assurance Engineering and is part of the Development Quality Team. This is an onsite role located in either Indianapolis, IN or Loveland, CO.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
* Representing quality assurance on development teams, quality systems and product improvement projects for Beckman Coulter Life Science.
* Coaching teams with application of ISO 9001/13485/cGMP/IEC 62304 and quality systems processes throughout product lifecycle.
* Partnering cross functionally to ensure product and service conformance with particular focus on Design Controls, Document Controls, Risk Management (per ISO 14971), Production, Service Controls.
* Assuring compliant process and product documentation, inclusive of Design History, Product, Process and Service documentation in support of product realization and commercialization within the Beckman Coulter quality system.
* Awareness of current industry standards and regulations and how they relate to internal policies and procedures. Influences interpretation of internal policies and procedures to ensure quality and compliance.
The essential requirements of the job include:
* Degree in engineering or other science or related field; or equivalent experience required.
* BS+7 or MS+4 years' experience in product development, manufacturing and / or quality systems (ISO 9001), medical device (ISO 13485), pharmaceutical, related life sciences or other regulated industries.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
* Ability to identify, develop and execute quality system, product and process improvements. Driving change cross functionally across multi-site operations.
* Certified Software or Quality Engineer (SQA) preferred and/or Auditor Certification desired.
* Experience with product software development lifecycle management

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Develop application specific protocols for automated liquid handlers and other instrumentation that support R&D, QC, and customers of the Gene Reading business
Plan and conduct wet lab experiments, perform data analysis, and interpret results with minimal to moderate oversight
Assist in the development, launch and sustainment of innovative NGS oncology products
Support the testing, validation, and advanced troubleshooting of automated systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability across internal and external deployments

The essential requirements of the job include:
PhD/Masters/Bachelors degree in Life Sciences (Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, etc.) or other relevant field with 0+/2+/4+ years of experience in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Oncology Research, or other relevant industry
Minimum of 4 years of lab experience required, including relevant experience with the Molecular Biology techniques of PCR, qPCR, and various NGS library preparation methodologies
Prior experience in developing new protocols that automate multi-step workflows on automated liquid handlers, such as the Hamilton STAR and Beckman i7
Demonstrated ability to design experiments, interpret results, and problem solve
Strong communication skills and ability to thrive and contribute in group settings

The salary range for this role is $80,000-$100,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

Coherent Aerospace & Defense Inc, Emerging Products & Technologies (EP&T) Business Unit is seeking a Senior Principal Control Systems Engineer to provide (1) expert controls guidance, (2) iterative controller design and analysis, (3) integration & testing problem solving, and (4) design and review of test and verification plans for high-precision gimbal systems in air, land, sea and space environments. Each program will have unique performance, environmental, reliability and documentation requirements. A primary goal of this position is to standardize and modularize various control applications and sub-systems which can be utilized by multiple programs with varying functional needs.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have relevant expertise in controls development, requirement development, mechanical and electrical interfaces, software integration, and data analysis, with specific experience in aerospace and defense related applications. This role involves leading projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and providing technical leadership throughout the entire development lifecycle. The candidate will also have the breadth of controls experience necessary to address non-gimballed systems, such as high-power laser systems. The Principal Controls Systems Engineer responsibilities include:
Controls Engineering:
Design, develop, and implement new precision line-of-sight pointing and tracking controller solutions. Analysis of motion control requirements (e.g. jitter, customer line-of-sight optical analysis, FEM analysis, and system performance requirements); using MATLAB, Simulink, or similar tools design and implement simulations, models, algorithms necessary to achieve and verify customer performance requirements.
Design, develop, and implement actuation systems for high-speed coherent combination of arrayed laser systems and optical benches.
Leads controls engineering efforts and ensures design concepts comply with customer's specifications and are fieldable by implementing on testbed hardware and troubleshooting program-deliverable hardware as necessary.
Guides and supports motion control system acceptance testing plans and procedures. Provides motion control problem-solving efforts throughout the organization.
Adheres to project/program financial goals and provides financial estimates and status updates to engineering and program management.
Additional administrative, documentation, and technical support to management is also expected.
Business Development:
Serves as controls engineering technical representative on new business opportunities and specialized projects.
Supports needs for customer interface in meetings and other industry events as required. Insight into customer base and precision line-of-sight motion control industry is expected.
Contributes to technical proposals for the development of new business and assists the estimation group in evaluating technical requirements, identifying exceptions, and preparing cost estimates for customer quotes.

Collaborates with I&TE with design input on optical alignment techniques and optical alignment tools and metrology (interferometers, spectrophotometers, autocollimators, theodolites, measuring/toolmaker microscope, lasers, etc.)
Perform trade studies and engineering analyses of optical alignment and tests for optical instruments
Understanding of clean room protocols and processes and best practice associated with optical element cleaning, handling, and packaging
Supports Vendor/supplier sub-contract management including optics, mechanics, tooling fabrication, and optical coatings
Exposure to and knowledge of optical component or system inspection per typical standards, e.g. MIL-PRF-13830B or ISO 10110, including cosmetic or functional Scratch-Dig, particle or residue contamination, reflectance, transmittance, index of refraction, surface roughness, BRDF, etc.
