As a key contributor to the firmware engineering team, the engineer will lead the development of firmware and embedded software for commercial products as well as in-house research initiatives. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Onboard under the guidance of a Principal Algorithm Development Engineer to gain expertise in Cepheid's signal-processing and Image processing -based embedded application. Take ownership as a key contributor for enhancements and new feature development.
Refactor existing signal processing and image processing application logic to increase maintainability and portability and translate into Python that can efficiently execute on embedded processors and generate equivalent results.
Apply AI and machine-learning as necessary to improve existing algorithms.
Build mathematical models using discrete filters, statistical methodology and signal processing algorithms to process biomedical sensor data.
Work with cross-discipline teams on new product introduction projects while adhering to software development , source control processes and document software requirements and detailed design.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or electrical Engineering with 8+ years relevant experience or master's degree in computer science or electrical Engineering with 6+ years relevant experience or doctoral degree with 3+ years relevant experience in real-time embedded systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience to perform at this level.
Experienced MATLAB, Python, C, C++ programmer with experience in real-time / embedded system design, debug, and testing in an Embedded Linux / RTOS environment.
Experience in developing embedded applications for ARM, X86 architectures is required.
Experience in developing digital signal processing, and image processing applications.
Experience in developing applications using advanced deep learning and machine learning algorithms.

- Support customer qualifications of Coherent products. Emphasis on handling issues associated with meeting customer performance and reliability requirements. Technical support and troubleshooting may be either a pre-sales or post-sales activity.
- Engage in discussion with customers and respond to direct technical inquiries
- Drive customer product test and reliability requirements through the internal Coherent organization
- Write Application Notes and white papers relevant to product application and test and for sales and customer distribution
- Prepare and deliver product application presentations to customers and internal organization as appropriate
- Analyze customer specifications and establish gap analyses
- Provide customer system design feedback to both marketing and engineering
- Provide occasional technical and customer support at trade shows as needed

Education & Experience
