The Senior Director, Regional Medical Affairs is our Medical & Scientific Affairs team's key leader for providing the regional insights for our Medical Affairs organization. This position will lead a team of senior associates in Europe, Middle East and Africa, Latin America, and Asia Pacific regions. This role is responsible for collaborative two-way partnership with our disease-area focused Medical Affairs organization and our regional Commercial teams to advance scientific developments and patient outcomes. The successful candidate will assess regional differences in healthcare from country to country, reviewing and regionalizing all integrated medical plans, MSL playbooks, and integrated evidence plans. We seek a candidate who can lead the strategy to represent the medical voice for local government and payor partnerships (with the Beckman Value and Access team), represent Beckman Coulter at key conferences, serve on advisory boards that would advance our brand and diagnostic positions, and connect with the local markets to understand guidelines, standards of care, healthcare policy, and any regional medical practice differences. This position reports to the Chief Medical Officer and is part of the Medical & Scientific Affairs Leadership Team. This role leads a team of regional directors dedicated to all aspects of appropriate use of all Beckman high medical value diagnostic tests. This role may be fully remote. Beckman Coulter has a major site presence in South Florida, Southern California, Hebron Kentucky, and Minneapolis Minnesota, as well as major hubs in Europe and Asia. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: + Steer collaborative efforts between internal and external business leaders and research team(s) to define bench and human clinical research priorities for product development, regulatory submissions, and marketing, based on intended clinical applications, business, and regulatory strategy + Establish and cultivate strategic academic partners suited for future research and innovation partnerships. Work with collaborators and product teams to determine investigator-initiated research proposals that are aligned with Beckman research needs including specific disease states + Support the Value and Access team with health economics, policy, and reimbursement for Beckman solutions + Build, sustain and serve as the leader for influential relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) outside of the United States to drive scientific exchange and shape the future of diagnostic technologies across the Beckman portfolio + Communicate and translate clinical/scientific insights and research concepts from KOLs into actionable guidance for product development teams + Strategically support the development and execution of pre-launch product initiatives, commercialization, and life cycle management of Beckman products through education, innovation, evidence generation and research, including the customization of CME, PACE, and CEU education for global markets + Prepare and deliver training on new industry campaigns and clinical evidence as well as work with the marketing team on providing clinical input in campaigns, insights articles and other outreach The essential requirements of the job include: + Doctorate level requirement (MD/PhD, MD, PhD, PharmD) with a minimum of 20 years of medical & clinical affairs experience including leadership experience in biotech, pharma, diagnostics, or other med device organizations. + Broad and/or deep experience in one or several therapeutic areas, including and not limited to cardiometabolic, neurodegenerative, or women's health and oncology. + Strategic thinking, demonstrated by the development of regional strategies in support of company objectives, understanding both scientific and business implications + Demonstrated record of strong collaboration with internal stakeholders across matrix organizations, sharing information, active collective goal achievement, open risk / reward / resource discussions, and developing talent within and outside of the MedSci function + Strong leadership skills, able to create a dynamic environment that fosters transparency, collaboration, and innovative thinking + Strong problem solving and negotiation skills; ability to influence and make recommendations at multiple levels of the company + Minimum of 5 years of project management skills to establish strategic goals and to prioritize, plan, delegate and evaluate deliverables - with a continuous improvement mindset Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: + Ability to travel a minimum of 25% of the time (domestic / international) It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: + 12+ years of product and domain knowledge of healthcare technologies and market trends + 12+ years' experience working in the medical technology, medical device, or pharmaceutical industry in Medical or Clinical Affairs roles + Experience leading teams of high performing professionals with a track record of identifying, coaching, and elevating talent + MBA or Masters degree in business related field Beckman Coulter Diagnostics, a Danaher operating company, offers a broad array of comprehensive, competitive benefit programs that add value to our lives.
