Education:

Summary:
Purpose: Primarily serves as a liaison between radiology professionals and customers to include community physicians, internal physicians, service departments and offsite facilities. Expedites communication to improve customer service for Danbury Hospital, Danbury Diagnostic Imaging, Ridgefield Diagnostic Imaging, and Danbury Medical Arts Center. Ensures procedures are scheduled safely for more complex radiology studies. Position is expected to cross train into minimum of two coverage areas.
Responsibilities:
1.Serves as a primary point of contact between radiologists and community physicians, coordinates consult when needed, and communicating all follow up on studies and responding to patient care issues.
2. Utilizes Cerner system and PACS obtain and upload prior films/studies and reports as requested by radiologists.
3.Performs all tasks as it relates to coordinating and scheduling special procedures and interventional procedures such as kyphoplasty, paracentesis, thoracentesis, biopsies, central line placement, port placements, Y-90 radiation treatment, etc.
4.Coordinates with nursing and anesthesia department for all cardiac MRIï ½s, pacemaker patients, steroid preps, Nuclear Medicine studies, and procedures requiring anesthesia.
5.Answers phone calls, takes detailed messages to ensure accurate and timely response.
6.Advises the patient, physician, or staff of proper test or procedure preparation requirements, accurate date/time of scheduled appointment and correct arrival time for registration. Notes any special requests or comments made by physician office or patient and accurately enters these comments in the schedule.
7. Performs accurate search/selection of patient within hospital system to maintain the integrity of the EMR and to ensure accuracy of patient identification.
8. Performs pre-registration function in the system and enters accurate and complete demographic and financial information to aid in securing payment for services rendered.
9. Responsible for all follow up with patients, offices and co-workers for scripts, authorizations, and paperwork.
10. Ensures timely processing of STAT readings by the radiologist by contacting referring physicians for preliminary reports.
11. Burn imaging discs for the OR, cardiology, and patients when requested.
12. PACS monitoring of reports to be read and prior imaging pending.

Under the supervision of the Diagnostic Radiology Manager and/or Lead Technologist, performs a wide variety of technical and professional duties utilizing complex imaging equipment to produce quality radiographic images as requested for subsequent interpretation by the radiologist. All duties are performed according to departmental and organizational policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
* 1. Performs quality and efficient diagnostic radiographic examinations, utilizing appropriate protocols and age specific standards.
* 1.1 Verifies physician-s order on requisitions 100% of the time.
* 2. Under the direct supervision of a Radiologic Technologist, operates radiographic equipment to ensure proper technical results.
* 2.1 Conducts daily inspection of radiographic equipment to ensure proper performance and image quality.
* 3. Prepares examination room to ensure a clean and safe environment with adequate supplies to assure efficient and accurate performance of exams.
* 3.1 Replaces any used supplies immediately after patient is dismissed
* 4. Performs quality and compassionate patient care, utilizing appropriate age specific standards, to ensure patient cooperation, safety, and satisfaction.
* 4.1 Thoroughly explains the procedure to ensure patient physical and emotional comfort
* 5. Performs various record keeping, customer service functions, and communicates feedback to ensure the goals of the department are met and operations run efficiently.
* 5.1 Accurately edits and completes all examinations to ensure proper medical record documentation and billing.
* 6. Participates in various teaching and/or learning opportunities in order to further his/her own personal knowledge and to assist in expanding the knowledge of others.

Qualifications
EDUCATION
Enrolled in A.M.A. approved Radiologic Technology program; ARRT registry eligible.
EXPERIENCE
Demonstrated technical skills to meet entry level standards of routine radiography. RT(R) certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and Connecticut State Radiographer License is required within 120 days of hire date.
LICENSURE
Must Achieve ARRT and CT License after 120 days after hire date
SPECIAL SKILLS
Demonstrates a basic understanding and technical skill with routine radiography, CR / Digital imaging techniques, knowledge of computer / Pacs applications, and good organizational and communication /customer service skills.
