Physical therapist assistant job at Danbury Hospital
Assists with the implementation of physical therapy services that identifies, prevents, remediates and rehabilitates acute or prolonged physical dysfunction or pain in the patient's home. Under the supervision of a physicaltherapist, delivers treatment including therapeutic exercise, physical modalities, patient and family education and procedures. Work is performed in the patient's place of residence.
Responsibilities:
1. Works under the direction and supervision of the licensed PhysicalTherapist in the home environment practice setting.
2. Performs Physical Therapy procedures ad related tasks under the direction of the supervising PhysicalTherapist.
3. Provides patient/family education and training.
4. Performs routine operational functions, including superision of Home Health Aide.
5. Documents visits and completes documentation within 24 hours of visit and within agency guidelines.
6. May modify specific treatment procedure in accordancewith patient status within the scope of the established treatment plan.
7. Participates in Performance Improvement activities and peer review.
8. Completes continuing education as per agency and state licensing requirements.
9. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: ASSOCIATE'S LVL DGRE
Other Information:
Required: Customer relation skills with patients and staff. All PT modalities, use of a computer.
Minimum Experience: zero to six months
Desired: FIM certification desired.

Accurately reflects time spent and procedures performed as well as equipment issued in patient charges. Maintains technical (education) expertise through: 1) attendance and participation in continuing education activities; and 2) departmental in-services. Attends 95% of scheduled in-services and departmental meetings. Attends one off-campus continuing-education activity per year. Provides instruction (teaching) to patients and/or family members. Follows care path guidelines for patient/family education and documentation of home programs. Teaches patient/family member proper use of equipment issued. Follows set guidelines for daily operations. Schedules and prioritizes daily work assignments. Delegates, as appropriate, to support personnel basic patient treatments to follow through with. Assists with PT volunteers and RPTA students as requested by (in-charge) therapist. Consistent and correct time-care utilization.
