The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of dedicated experience in trust, estate, and conservatorship litigation in California. This role offers the opportunity to manage a diverse caseload, work closely with partners, and take a lead role in all phases of litigation, from initial case assessment through trial and appeal. We believe in rewarding hard work. Our attorneys have a minimum billable hour requirement of 1,610 hours per year. For those who meet or exceed this goal, our tiered bonus program provides a clear path to increase your earnings significantly. The annual base salary for this position is $165,000 to $195,000. Depending on billable hours, total compensation can range up to $207,000 for those at the lower end of the salary range, or up to $245,000 at the higher end. *Job Duties and Responsibilities:* Manage and litigate complex trust, estate, and conservatorship disputes, including but not limited to: * Will and trust contests (e.g., undue influence, lack of capacity, fraud) * Breach of fiduciary duty claims against trustees, executors, and conservators * Petitions for instructions and accountings * Spousal property petitions * Elder abuse actions (financial and physical) * Conservatorship contested matters * Probate and trust administration disputes Conduct legal research and analysis, draft pleadings, motions, and briefs. Handle all aspects of discovery, including propounding and responding to written discovery, and taking/defending depositions. Prepare for and attend court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials. Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel. Develop and implement effective case strategies. Collaborate with partners and other attorneys on complex matters. Mentor junior attorneys and support staff as needed. As a core Community Nutrition and Health statewide program, the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) provides community education classes for income-eligible youth and adults, which promote nutrition and physical activity as a means of maintaining a healthy lifestyle free from chronic disease. By focusing on improving diet quality, increasing physical activity, assuring safe food-handling practices, and strengthening food resource management skills, EFNEP supports families with children to make meaningful healthy lifestyle changes. EFNEP also partners with community stakeholders to make changes to the surrounding community context, known as "policy, system, and environmental change efforts" which result in deeper, long-term positive impact for even more youth and families. EFNEP is federally funded by the United States Department of Agriculture as part of a long-standing network of community-based nutrition education programs across the country. Position Summary: Join our statewide and national network of nutrition and health educators who receive high-quality training and hands-on support so that together we can make a positive difference in our communities. This position's primary foci are to conduct, manage, and evaluate a nutrition education program to create a healthier school and community environment. The Community Education Specialist 2 position will perform the full range of program implementation duties. Incumbent will coordinate, manage, and deliver nutrition education with community-based adults and/or youth in partnership with local public health and community organizations. This includes training, guiding, and supporting schoolteachers who volunteer to support health education in their classes by providing them with education, information and resources; evaluating program implementation; collecting and compiling enrollment information, assuring proper documentation, collecting evaluation data from teachers and participants; performing data entry for reporting; and writing reports in compliance with funding requirements. Develop collaboration with other programs to coordinate outreach efforts. Attend community events and serve as representative and ambassador for the program. Maintain appropriate records to track the partnership activity, collaboration, and related community events. 10% Work as a team member to develop annual work plans, manage volunteers, share recommendations for improvement, and coach partner agencies to make healthy changes in their organizations. May provide leadership and mentoring to interns, new staff, volunteers, and/or other educators, including working with them to assess the successes and challenges of lesson delivery. Requirements: Associate degree and/or equivalent experience/training in a related area such as nutrition, public health, or community health and well-being. Continuing education, training, or professional development in a related field. Knowledge of community education, community engagement, teaching, and/or facilitation best practices. Proficient in the use of Windows-based computers with knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience working with a diverse youth, adult, and/or volunteers, including diversity in age, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, and/or physical and ability/disability. Experience working with underserved populations. Familiarity with schools and community-based agencies in the local area serving lower-income youth and adults. Thorough and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and presentation skills to work in large and small groups, give presentations, and organize activities. Ability to write newsletters, correspondence, and reports. Bilingual communication/translation abilities in English and Spanish. Preferred Skills: Knowledge of community education and /or teaching practices. Working knowledge of conducting needs assessment to understand community strengths, interests, and priorities. Key Responsibilities: 0% Program Liaison and Coordination: Oversee the local 4-H Youth Development Program (YDP) to ensure activities, events, and outreach are implemented safely, consistently, and in alignment with positive youth development principles. Ensure that programs are welcoming, accessible, and responsive to the needs of youth and families across all communities. Monitor program compliance in line with University and 4-H YD policies and procedures. Work with groups of volunteers, youth, and community partners and serve as their direct liaison. Provide feedback to Regional Program Coordinator and Advisor on needs for advanced training. Support interested groups in starting new 4-H programs, including chartering new clubs, reviewing and approving documents, and submitting all paperwork to the appropriate individuals. Maintain up-to-date understanding of 4-H YD policies and relevant UC ANR policies and ensure timely communication of new or existing 4-H policies, procedures, and enrollment processes to new and returning 4-H youth, volunteers, parents, and community partners. Collaborate with 4-H Volunteer Management Organizations and committees. Attend meetings as needed. Aim to ensure a cohesive, diverse volunteer management system. Effectively resolve conflict. Provide oversight, review complaints, and follow 4-H Conflict Resolution Policy. Effectively and timely resolve conflict. Keep your RPC (Regional Program Coordinator) informed of all conflicts and complaints. Notify Regional Program Coordinator (RPC) if the complaint escalates and needs higher review. Ensure all needed UC ANR individuals are notified as needed. All 4-H professionals serve as mandated reporters under California Law. Disseminate 4-H information via the 4-H website, collaborative tools, emails, social media, newsletters, blogs, etc. Be a champion for use of multiple delivery models so that all youth may engage in the 4-H program. Serve as a liaison and communication link to community organizations, including but not limited to local schools, youth-based community organizations, race/ethnic-based community organizations, education-aligned organizations, and local fairs. Represent the 4-H YDP in the county. Provide information about the 4-H YDP to the public. Build knowledge and skills in the areas of intercultural development, youth development, youth leadership, development of life skills, and volunteerism. Develop knowledge and expertise in a variety of content areas such as but not limited to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math), College & Career/Workforce Readiness, Healthy Living, Civic Engagement & Leadership through a Positive Youth Development (PYD) lens. Attend and participate in relevant professional development opportunities, virtual webinars, state/regional meetings and trainings, California 4-H State Association meetings and trainings, and monthly state 4-H meetings, including in-person conferences as funding allows. 0% Enrollment and Records: Monitor, ensure accuracy, and approve youth and volunteer enrollments in compliance with 4-H state policy. Assist 4-H community clubs with outreach efforts to ensure compliance with affirmative action requirements and to expand and diversify youth and adult volunteer club membership. In consultation with the Regional Program Coordinator (RPC) and Advisor, assist with developing programs or content to reach new audiences and/or establish programs in underserved areas. 0% Facility Use Agreements and Policy Compliance Review: Provide technical support and advice for 4-H event and program coordination. Monitor compliance of 4-H policy, including facility use agreement and risk management. Process facility use agreement and rental requests and ensure that established deadlines are followed. Respond to policy inquiries from 4-H members, families and/or adult volunteers. Seek technical support from Regional Program Coordinator (RPC) and appropriate personnel at the statewide level. Ensure 4-H members, families, volunteers, 4-H programs/units, and volunteer management organizations comply with University and 4-H policies and procedures. Provides education and support for volunteers, including but not limited to conflict management solutions, conflict resolution, and issuing disciplinary actions. 0% Fiscal Review and Compliance: Ensure review and approval of 4-H unit budgets and fundraising approval forms are done by appropriate personnel. Review 4-H unit/VMO monthly bank statements for compliance with 4-H policies. Followup and take corrective action for non-compliance. Email the 4-H unit leader and/or treasurer with the respective redacted bank statement(s). Assist 4-H units and ensure end-of-the-year financial reporting requirements are met by the due date. 0% Communications: Maintain 4-H county social media, create flyers for recruiting youth membership, volunteers, and community partners and educational materials using Canva, Microsoft products, or other design software.
