How you'll contribute
A Senior Specialist Education who excels in this role:
Collaborates with nurse managers and staff to assess the learning needs and competencies of staff.
Designs, delivers, and assesses learning activities and curriculums related to clinical competencies, departmental/organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and the use of clinical information technologies.
Serves as a consultant/mentor for staff in areas of program development, clinical practice, and professional development.
Participates in the development, coordination, and delivery of new staff orientation and education activities.
Assists in development and implementation of educational programs/learning aids for clinical and non-clinical associates.
Plans, coordinates, organizes, implements, and evaluates orientation programs, continuing education, and in-services that enhance associate job performance.
Keeps appropriate educational records. Maintains A-V equipment, books, 0and educational supplies.
Prepares schedules as needed for educational in-services and coordinates with persons involved: i.e., presenters, community, departments.
Conducts and assists others in orientation, in-services, continuing education, or workshops; meets requirements for providing contact hours, as requested.
Maintains appropriate records, documentation for educational in-services, and educational records for associates' educational activities.

What we're looking for
The right person will be provide oversight for and participate in planning, direction, coordination, for the educational activities for the facility. This includes program development as well as staff education and patient education. The Senior Education Specialist serves as a resource person to staff and management.
Applicants must have a current VA RN (or compact state) License. Additional requirements include:
Graduate of a professional school of Nursing.
Master's degree or currently enrolled in Master's in Nursing program required.
Basic Life Support certification is required.
Minimum two (2) years of clinical experience in an acute care hospital setting required,
One (1) year of formal/informal teaching experience preferred
One (1) year of management experience preferred

Communicate receipt of malpractice lawsuit filing or service, notice of potential compensatory event via notification from event reporting system, risk managers, department heads or physicians, or notification from attorney of representation of plaintiff.
Communicate with outside attorneys who are providing legal defense to Carilion and its employees
Conduct an investigation, at the direction of defense attorneys, and report findings back to defense Counsel and Director of Claims management.
Collect pertinent documents, information and records for litigation as directed by defense counsel.

What We Require:
Education: Registered Nurse (BSN) or bachelors degree in health science or Paralegal.

Licensure,certification, and/or registration: Advanced education in the field of Risk management or claims management strongly prefered.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with appropriate use of grammar, spelling and/or punctuation. Knowledge of office procedures and equipment. This is an exciting time to join our team as we develop a new Anesthesia Residency Program targeted to begin in Summer 2026.
Clinical responsibilities include patient care in the Anesthesia Department at Carilion Medical Center (CMC), an 835-bed tertiary academic health center. CMC is one of the largest and busiest Level 1 adult and pediatric trauma centers in the region with 49 anesthetizing locations and NORA rooms. Our faculty fosters robust academic programming while keeping foremost Carilion Clinic's mission of providing excellent care to its community.
The position includes an appointment at Virginia Tech in the tenure track at the rank of Clinical Assistant, Associate, or Professor based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Research interest with Fralin Biomedical Research Institute-VT is supported.
Administer anesthesia to patients undergoing surgical procedures, monitoring vital signs, and adjusting dosages as necessary
Ensure the comfort and safety of patients before, during, and after anesthesia administration

Evaluate patients' medical history, pre-operative assessments, and laboratory results to determine the appropriate anesthesia method

Performs various neurodiagnostic procedures to patients of all ages. Assures quality studies.
Assists in establishing recording criteria for various technical procedures using guidelines prepared by the American Society of EEG Technologists and recommendations of equipment manufacturers with guidance from and approval by the Medical Director of the Neurodiagnostic laboratory. Annually assists with review and revision to procedures in accordance with currently recommended methods.
Shares in responsibility for coordinating laboratory schedule and assigning priorities according to workload and clinical urgency.

Work with clients who are at risk of developing or may have existing medical conditions or injuries. Objective is to prevent or manage acute, sub-acute or chronic disease or injury to restore optimal physical function, health or wellness.
Interventions are exercise-based and include physical activity and support.
Must be able to work autonomously across a variety of areas and target pathologies including but not limited to cancer, cardiovascular, kidney, mental health, musculoskeletal, neurological, neuromuscular, respiratory and pulmonary conditions.
What We Require:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Sports Medicine or related field is required.
Experience: 2 years recent and relevant experience required.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Personal training certification or certified exercise physiologist or certified clinical exercise physiologist or certified strength and conditioning specialist from a nationally recognized organization such as ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NSCA, or Cooper Institute is required. Carilion approved specialty training certifications: orthopedic, movement disorder, Parkinsons disease, multiple sclerosis and cancer are required 90-days of hire.
Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP
Other Minimum Qualifications: Desire to work within a comprehensive health care team. Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills. The ability to work independently is required. Commitment to a healthy lifestyle as a model for participants and staff.

How you'll contribute
A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:
Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
Performs timely and accurate QI assessments

What we're looking for
Graduate of a professional school of Nursing.
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse from the Virginia State Board of Nursing or a Compact State.
Additional requirements include:
Basic Life Support certification is required.
AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) , AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - both required within one year of employment-ACLS & PALS
Previous experience in acute care hospital setting preferred.
