Overview:
The Senior Facilities Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of all facility systems within a 24/7 operational environment. This hands-on position works closely with Facilities Engineers and other senior technicians to develop advanced technical expertise, with a strong emphasis on industrial control systems, instrumentation, and life safety systems.
In addition to performing complex troubleshooting and maintenance tasks, the Senior Facilities Technician will progressively assume responsibility for on-shift operations, ensuring the safe and efficient functioning of all facility systems. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, a commitment to continuous learning, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, mission-critical setting.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
This position will focus on facilities instruments and control systems. This includes industrial control systems and equipment that supports the clean room operations in a semiconductor manufacturing FAB.
Working with experienced instrumentation and control system technicians/engineers, the position will also be responsible for assisting with programming, installing, and operations and maintenance of the site's life safety systems, which include fire alarm systems, VESDA systems and toxic gas monitoring systems.
Work with PLCs, DCS, Field instrument calibration, and control system communication protocols for operations and maintenance upgrades/trouble shooting as well as new installations.
Manage daily operations of all facilities semiconductor facilities systems including responding to system alarms and basic equipment troubleshooting to resolve alarm/abnormal situation.
Manage outside service and construction contractor(s) to execute facilities maintenance projects and Facilities Work Request (FWR) projects.
Perform equipment and system maintenance as assigned and use the FIIX CMMS system.
Collection and analysis of system operational data to proactively develop preventive maintenance programs for equipment and systems.
Apply advanced troubleshooting skills to determine root cause of equipment failures. Formulate repair strategies as well as formulate corrective & preventative maintenance plans.
Maintaining facility system uptime (on-line time) at or above 100%.
Operate forklift and personnel lift equipment.
Complete repairs, maintenance projects and a wide range of assigned tasks related to semiconductor Facilities Systems/Equipment.
Chemical handling, including: (1) wastewater treatment chemicals, (2) FAB bulk chemicals (process chemicals), and RODI treatment chemicals.
Participation with the Emergency Response Team
Other Facilities Department operations, maintenance and project tasks assigned by supervisor/manager.
Requirement:
AS/AA in engineering field (electronics, control systems) preferred. A combination of relevant experience and industry certifications/training can be substituted for formal education.
10+ years experience within a semiconductor support function or semiconductor facilities operations and equipment maintenance.
Familiarity with piping systems, boilers, chillers, cooling water systems, HVAC, pumps, compressors, bulk gases, bulk chemicals, specialty gases, wastewater treatment, bulk chemical distribution, ultrapure water, electrical power distribution, field instruments, and control systems.
Experience and exposure to instrumentation and control systems including PLC operation and PLC programming, Distributed Control systems (DCS), Fire Alarm Systems field instrument calibrations, and semiconductor toxic gas monitoring systems.
Demonstrated abilities with basic mechanical, electrical and control system troubleshooting for various semiconductor facilities systems and equipment types.
Ability to interface and manage outside contractors for daily operations and maintenance projects for all facilities systems.
Ability to work in an industrial plant/facilities environment wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) for hearing, respirator, chemical protection and fall protection. Ability to work off ladders and scaffolding, and able to lift 50 lbs.
Familiarity with Siemens Apogee system is a plus.

As a member of the Operations Team, the Housekeeper will be based at the Institute's Environmental Learning Center (ELC) within North Cascades National Park. Responsibilities
Cleaning
Perform routine cleaning of the Learning Center's facilities, including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, sanitizing, organizing, and restocking.
Ensure that all rooms are cleaned and inspected according to established standards.
Maintain campus garbage and recycling containers.
Keep supply closets orderly, clean, and well-stocked.
Promptly report maintenance or housekeeping issues to the supervisor and immediately address hazards encountered during duties.

The Pacific West Region is recruiting for TEMPORARY seasonal positions not to exceed 1039 hours work in a service year. Dates of employment will vary between sites depending on funding, weather conditions and visitation. Within regulatory limitations, the length of initial appointment may be shortened or extended depending on work availability and funding.
The purpose of this position is to perform Animal Caretaker (MVO) duties: Responsible for stock management of up to 12 animals. Perform basic veterinarian care and recognizing more serious injuries and illnesses to coordinate medical care. Responsible for leading seasonal packer in packing, care, and handling of stock. Regularly couple and uncouple trucks from trailers and properly connect and disconnect electrical brake controllers. Independently operate and maintain any necessary small equipment (loaders, skid steer loaders) to load and unload trucks.
Physical Effort: The incumbent must possess good coordination and endurance for hiking, leading of pack string and operation of vehicles, equipment, axes and saws. The incumbent will frequently ride horse and/or mules up to 20 miles in a day while guiding a pack string of up to 8 animals. Incumbent will be required to lift, carry, and secure awkward loads up to 100 pounds onto the sides of animals at or above chest height and use arms to hold packs in position while hitching ropes. Incumbent must be able to adjust these loads along the trail in steep, rocky, or other poor footing situations. While preparing loads, incumbent is required to constantly bend, squat, twist, lift and place loads onto trucks for transport. When performing trail maintenance, incumbent will be required to do strenuous work with hand tools on steep slopes and walk up to 20 miles per day while carrying loads over difficult terrain. Position requires that the incumbent maintain good physical stamina and strength in arms, back, and legs to perform these required tasks safely and efficiently.
Working Conditions: Incumbent will be required to work at altitudes ranging from sea level up to 6,000 feet in all extremes of weather including wind, rain, and snow, and temperatures ranging from 20°F to 100°F with sudden and extreme changes. There is a risk of cuts, scrapes, sunburns, and hypothermia, strained or pulled muscles due to the movement of animals while hitching or loading, shoeing, etc., and danger from animals crushing, striking, or biting. Other Hazards include falling limbs/trees/rocks, rough terrain, snow slides and unpredictable interaction with stock animals. Incumbent is required to wear the official NPS uniform. Appropriate and required PPE will be provided at the park's expense. Incumbent will frequently lift, push, and pull loads weighing more than 100 pounds on poor footing and in awkward areas. Incumbent will be required to work in dusty conditions where visibility and breathing are compromised. Incumbent may occasionally be required to work long hours while packing (up to 14 hours in a day). Incumbent will routinely be required to spend multiple nights in the backcountry camping with pack stock in remote, outdoor environments.

Overview
The position of journey level millwright will be responsible for understanding their mechanics of working machinery, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing equipment and facilities on the plant site. The Pacific West Region is recruiting for TEMPORARY seasonal positions not to exceed 1039 hours work in a service year. Dates of employment will vary between park sites depending on funding, weather conditions and visitation. Within regulatory limitations, the length of initial appointment may be shortened or extended depending on work availability and funding.
Duty Locations are:
North Cascades National Park: Marblemount, Washington-, housing may be available.
Major Duties are:
* Perform simple and routine maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings, equipment and related utilities.
* Assist higher graded maintenance mechanics/workers or journeyman tradesmen in the performance of their work.
* Perform minor carpentry repairs using simple measures and hand tools on such tasks as replacing broken planks on picnic tables; broken windows using precut stock, makes minor adjustments or replaces hinges, latches and catches and minor building, repairs.
* Perform minor painting using brush and roller according to specific instruction on projects where appearances are not critical such as staining picnic tables and trash barrels.
* Perform routine maintenance on campground sites and trails using hand tools to regrade and reset barriers to restore areas to original appearances. Collect trash.
* Operate light trucks to pick up supplies and to transport materials to and from work sites while assisting on project work.
* Clean and service chemical toilets, restrooms, and other campground or visitor facilities. Make minor repairs as needed and refer problems to higher graded workers.
* Operate a forklift to load and unload supplies and light equipment not requiring special rigging.
Physical Demands: Incumbent works in shops, other buildings, and at construction and repair sites. Climbs on ladders and scaffolds. Work requires reaching overhead, bending, kneeling, and other awkward positions. Lifts heavy objects such as rafters and beams. Carry objects up to 40 pounds and occasionally lifts or moves items with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers.

Job Description
North Cascades Institute (NCI) seeks a qualified, safety-minded individual to serve as the Onsite Evening Host at the Environmental Learning Center (ELC) in the heart of the North Cascades. The Evening Host is a key member of our risk management team, is responsible for after-hours operations, responding to guest and staff needs, and overnight incident response. This position requires strong judgement, clear communication, and the ability to remain calm, professional, and responsive in a remote environment setting. Dates of employment are January 13 - June 5, 2026.
While on duty, the Evening Host serves as the primary point of contact for after-hours needs; ranging from room lockouts and building concerns to medical or safety emergencies. The OIC collaborates closely with Daytime Incident Commanders, program staff, and the on-site director to ensure a consistent, coordinated approach to guest experience, safety, and campus operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Emergency Response
Oversees and coordinates after-hours emergency responses in accordance with NCI protocols.
Establishes scene safety and manages ongoing risk during incidents.
Assesses incident severity and follows appropriate escalation procedures based on NCI's Incident Severy Scale.
Leads communication with internal teams and external emergency services as needed.
Coordinates evacuations, medical responses, and other appropriate actions to ensure participant and staff safety.
Maintains readiness with appropriate safety gear, communication tools, and emergency supplies while on shift.
Maintains situational awareness of campus conditions, program activities, and environmental hazards.
Completes accurate and timely incident documentation following NCI reporting protocols.
Leads post-incident debriefs with involved staff, ensuring professionalism, confidentiality, and actionable learning.
Supports continuous improvement of NCI's risk management practices by contributing to post-incident reviews and Standard Operating Procedure updates.

Communicates regularly with Daytime Incident Commanders to ensure smooth transition between shifts.

Occasionally attends ELC staff meetings in person.
Participates in required risk management training and contributes to ongoing improvements in emergency response readiness.
General
Assist with Learning Center program operations as needed, including Mountain School and Family Getaways.
May occasionally staff the Learning Center front desk using the Point of Sale system.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The Environmental Learning Center is located in a remote, forested mountain environment within the North Cascades ecosystem. The area is home to diverse wildlife, including species that require knowledgeable and responsible cautionary behavior. Employees must exercise sound judgment around wildlife and follow established safety practices.
Weather conditions vary significantly across seasons and may include heat, rain, snow, ice, and low-visibility conditions.
Staff must be able to use personal outdoor gear to perform duties in all weather.
The remote setting requires reliable personal transportation for commuting and errands.
Overnight staff are expected to maintain the same professional conduct, work quality, and safety standards upheld during daytime operations.
During after-hours shifts, the OIC holds operational authority for incident response until relieved by the Daytime IC, on-site director, or other designated staff.

North Cascades Institute seeks skilled backcountry educators to join our Youth Leadership Adventures (YLA) team. Youth Leadership Adventures are 5 and 8 day backcountry trips that connect local high school students to the natural world while engaging in conversation about leadership, identity, and climate solutions. Groups of 2 instructors and up to 10 participants canoe, backpack, camp, and complete stewardship projects in the North Cascades. Youth Leadership Instructors plan and instruct these YLA trips, and are responsible for the physical and emotional safety of all trip participants, as well as engaging them with curriculum on topics such as community building, leadership, backcountry skills, natural history, and climate change. Instructors will participate in a few weeks of training, and then lead backcountry trips in late June through August. Dates of employment are June 3 - August 28, 2026.

Required Qualifications
One or more seasons serving as an instructor on backcountry canoe-camping and/or backpacking trips for youth
Experience mentoring, teaching, or leading teens
Ability to evaluate group and individual needs and make appropriate risk management decisions in a backcountry setting
Demonstrated commitment to increasing equitable access to outdoor engagement
Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification, or ability to obtain by start date

Required Qualifications
At least one year of professional food service experience.
Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule, including longer days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to work effectively with historically excluded populations.
Reliable transportation to and from work.
Valid Washington State Food Handler's Permit and thorough knowledge of food safety practices.

Previous food service experience in residential learning centers, camps, schools, or similar facilities.

Benefits:
Compensation - This is a seasonal, full-time, non-exempt position. The pay rate is $21.84 per hour. Most weeks average 35-40 hours; occasional overtime possible (paid at 1.5x).The job location for this position is at the Environmental Learning Center.

Housing - Good quality housing is available through the Institute at $397/month including utilities, considerably below market rates. Private rooms in shared houses are typically available, but not guaranteed. In some cases, roommates in shared rooms may be required at $198.50/month.

Overview
To work safely and maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others.
