    The Sterile Processing Advanced Technician is a medical professional who reports to the Sterile Processing Supervisor. This technician specializes in the decontamination, assembly and sterilization of surgical instruments for the Operating Room as well as the clinics within the hospital and our offsite Newport location. The Advanced Technician will also clean and process Endoscopes according to hospital policies and procedures making sure to follow all manufacturer IFU's. Applies his or her knowledge on a daily basis by acting as a resource for fellow team members and other departments. The Advanced Technician will also take Charge Duty when the Supervisor has a day off or is on vacation and carry out the daily duties of the supervisor when they are not in the building. This technician will also help to train new employees when they come on board. The Advanced Technician will work hand in hand with the Supervisor daily making sure that the department is set with trays, supplies, and turn over and will help to make sure that any updates are communicated to the appropriate person/department. Responsibilities * Take charge duty when the Supervisor is off for the day or on vacation and carry out Supervisor duties while the Supervisor is not in the building * Attend weekly huddles or other meetings that may come up if the Supervisor cannot attend * Order any supplies that may be needed if the Supervisor is off and not able to do so * Makes sure that any trauma sets needing restock get stocked with implants that may be coming in or that may have come in while the Supervisor is out * Communicate with Facilities if any issues should arise within the department that need their attention * Leave updates through email to the Supervisor of any issues or concerns that may have come up with equipment, supplies, etc. * Works with Reps. In the coordinating of trays that are coming in on what days and if any are going out * Works with the Supervisor to train any new hires or travelers * Communicates with the OR if an instrument is missing after a case making sure to the let the OR Supervisor know as well * Helps to edit set write ups as needed * Follows manufacturer instructions for use for steam and low temperature sterilization * Follows manufacturer instructions for use for decontamination, disinfection of instruments, and flexible endoscopes according to department standards and industry guidelines * Demonstrates knowledge of surgical instrument kits * Demonstrates knowledge of how to properly inspect and assemble kits * Adheres to hospital policies for CSR as well as follow AAMI guidelines (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instruments * Performs equipment testing: Bowies and Biologicals, and reports any abnormal results to the supervisor * Delivery of sterile instruments and kits in a timely manner, within 48 hours, to other departments within the hospital * Maintains a clean work environment in accordance to regulator guidelines and hospital policy. Damp dusting horizontal surfaces, end of day cleaning, removal of trash and laundry * Attends staff meetings and in services * Stays up to date on departmental communication and required annual and periodical competencies * Participates in orientation of new staff as needed * Completes other daily tasks as requested and assigned * Performs job specific requirements and other duties as assigned * Answer the phone and take messages when needed * Help with different reps that come in with trays or help with them taking trays out * Help the OR when they are looking for a kit or instrument Qualifications * High school diploma or GED. * Central Sterile certification required within two years of hire. The team works flexible shifts and take call shifts to provide care on an emergent basis to our community. About the Job: As a member of the Patient Care Services team, the Endoscopy Procedural Technician will successfully complete a competency-based orientation program to become proficient in serving the inpatient and outpatient population requiring endoscopy procedures. To function as an integral member of the endoscopy team by performing a variety of duties which assist the endoscopist in carrying out a safe endoscopy procedure with optimal results for the patient. The Endoscopy Procedural Technician works under the direction of the circulating RN, Resource Nurse, and unit managers. What You'll Do: Responsible to assist with the room turnover.
