JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE OF POSITION The Environmental Monitoring/Data Management Specialist is responsible for performing both field and office duties associated with environmental monitoring and data management as they relate to achieving and sustaining compliance with laws, regulations, and permits and comply with all safety and security policies and procedures in performing job duties. This position will provide assistance in carrying out projects or programs which perform environmental monitoring and/or sample collection/analysis, data review, and management in accordance with regulatory and procedural requirements and involves the use of field instrumentation, data management systems, GIS tools and software. REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS Education/Experience: BA/BS degree in Environmental science or technical field or an equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum of six (6) years related progressing responsibility Licenses/Certifications: May be required to obtain specialized licenses/certifications such as Licensed Nuisance Wildlife Control Officer. 3. Other Requirements: Broad knowledge of environmental theories, principles, techniques, policies, regulations, and legal requirements. Track, evaluate, reduce, and compile data for preparation of complex technical documents such as the Annual Site Environmental Report and provide support as needed. Edit and prepare technical reports and scientific and regulatory documents. Manage scientific and analytical data information to meet company and Department of Energy (DOE) laboratory and environmental information management system requirements. Analyze complex radiological information from environmental data to support public dose estimate calculations and evaluations against WVDP, DOE, and regulatory requirements. Support transition of existing site laboratory information management systems to company, DOE, and regulatory agencies (New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, NYSDEC and the Environmental Protection Agency, EPA). Provide data validation and on-site analytical and quality assurance. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Interpret and follow a wide variety of guidelines, policies, laws, and established practices to accomplish complex tasks. Follow detailed written and verbal instructions from management to perform assigned task according to established procedures. Develop solutions to a variety of problems of limited scope and complexity. Exercise discretion and sound judgement in performing work and recommend improvements to operations and/or processes. JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE OF POSITION The Environmental Monitoring/Data Management Specialist is responsible for performing both field and office duties associated with environmental monitoring and data management as they relate to achieving and sustaining compliance with laws, regulations, and permits and comply with all safety and security policies and procedures in performing job duties.
