The opportunity
Join Hitachi Energy's Service Business as a Supply Chain Management (SCM) Data Analyst. In this role, you will manage and analyze SCM data, identify performance gaps, and deliver actionable insights that support strategic initiatives across the Service Business Unit. You will also maintain master data accuracy, develop dashboards, and ensure reporting consistency to help improve operational efficiency and reliability in service delivery.
How you'll make an impact
Compile, prepare, and analyze monthly SCM KPI reports.
Design and develop interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI and other BI tools.
Maintain and improve automated data processes for dynamic dashboards.
Manage SCMIS data for the Business Unit, ensuring data integrity and handling new development requests.
Develop, implement, and enhance reporting templates; train teams on data collection tools.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and analyses.
Act as a functional analyst to monitor and evaluate metric results.
Provide coaching and training to SCM teams for effective adoption of Power BI reports.
Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
Your background

Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or science (Electrical/Mechanical preferred), Business, or related field.
Minimum 2 years of experience within Supply Chain Management.

JOB SUMMARY:
We're seeking a critical role in Data Engineering to own the design/redesign and operation of our modern data pipelines. You will build and maintain scalable ingestion frameworks, (ETL) implement robust data quality/validation controls, and collaborate and partner closely with the analyst and application teams to deliver well-modeled, trustworthy datasets. Your work will directly support mission‑critical reporting, analytics, and product features.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Engineering
Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Airbyte, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), or cloud-native orchestration.
Develop and maintain scalable data ingestion frameworks for structured and unstructured data.
Implement robust data quality, validation, and monitoring checks across all pipelines.
Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to support data modeling and schema design that aligns with analytics and application needs.
Support the development of data warehouse architectures (star schemas, snowflake schemas, SCDs, CDC, etc.).
Database Development
Develop efficient, maintainable SQL (DDL/DML), stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views across multiple environments (dev, QA, prod).
Optimize complex queries for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
Implement indexing strategies, partitioning, and query-plan reviews to improve system performance.
Support application developers with database-driven features, including schema design, query optimization, and integrations.
Participate in code reviews, ensuring database changes follow best practices and governance standards.
Database Administration (DBA)
Manage and administer SQL Server, Snowflake, or other RDBMS environments.
Perform installation, configuration, upgrades, patches, and performance tuning.
Ensure database security, encryption, role-based access, and compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
Monitor database health and performance using tools such as SQL Server Profiler, Query Store, CloudWatch, New Relic, etc.
Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies, high availability (HA), and disaster recovery (DR) solutions.
Troubleshoot incidents and provide on-call support for production issues.
Data Governance & Architecture
Establish and enforce data standards, naming conventions, documentation, version control, and deployment processes.
Support metadata management, data lineage, and data cataloging initiatives.
Contribute to capacity planning, storage management, and system scalability strategies.
KNOWLEDGE AND ESSENTIAL SKILLS
Excellent problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
Ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Business Intelligence, Analytics, and Product teams.
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
Self-driven, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities in fast-paced environments.
Experience supporting both operational databases and analytics data warehouses.
Understanding of data governance frameworks and compliance (SOC2, HIPAA, GDPR).
EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE
Certifications in SQL and ETL tools are preferred.
3-5+ years of experience in data engineering, database development, and/or database administration.
Strong proficiency with SQL (T-SQL, PL/pg SQL, or similar) and relational database design.
Experience administering and optimizing SQL Server, Snowflake, Azure, or similar platforms.
Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT development, data modeling, and pipeline orchestration tools.
Experience with version control (Git), CI/CD, and code-based database deployments.
Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Strong understanding of performance tuning, indexing, query plans, and workload optimization.
