Key Responsibilities: Data Visualization and Reporting Design, build, and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI and other approved business intelligence tools. Translate complex business requirements into user-friendly, visually compelling reporting solutions. Ensure all visualizations follow enterprise design standards, maintain brand consistency, and meet accessibility best practices. Continuously enhance existing dashboards based on user feedback and evolving business needs. Data Analysis & Query Development Write, refine, and optimize SQL queries to support data extraction, transformation, and analysis across multiple data sources. Conduct exploratory and descriptive analysis to identify trends, outliers, and opportunities for operational improvement. Validate the accuracy and consistency of data outputs through quality assurance checks and testing protocols. Stakeholder Collaboration Partner with cross-functional teams (including but not limited to finance, operations, clinical, marketing) to understand reporting needs and business goals. Facilitate conversations with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment of data definitions and report outputs. This duty includes regularly uploading all water chemistry data to the Florida's Department of the Environmental Protection's Watershed Information Network, and ensuring all LAKEWATCH data meeting their reporting guidelines and standards, * Coordinate with LAKEWATCH Laboratory Manager regarding data capture systems, quality control, and organizational procedures, * Support research activities relevant to the LAKEWATCH program, including (but are not limited to): gathering and summarizing data in preparation for specific research products, using statistical software to analyze and interpret research data, assisting staff and graduate students with relevant statistical inferences, summarizing research methods and data, and supporting funding searches and proposal preparation, * Organize and streamline communal resources and information used by the LAKEWATCH program, using appropriate tools or software (e.g., one drive, sharepoint, dropbox, slack, etc), as needed, * Assist the Director, Extension Manager, and Regional Coordinators with administrative and extension tasks related to LAKEWATCH activities, as needed; * Support relevant teaching and training opportunities for LAKEWATCH staff and volunteers, undergraduate students, and graduate students, as they arise, * Other duties assigned by the LAKEWATCH Director or Assistant Director, as needed. Normal work schedule will be from 8:00 to 5:00 for a 40-hour week. However, there are times when weekend work will be required to accommodate working with volunteers across the state. The primary work location is 7922 NW 71st Street, Gainesville, FL 32653. Occasional out-of-area travel with an overnight stay may be required to attend Regional Volunteer and State Agency meetings, as well as conference and/or other research activities. Please note, funding for this position is time-limited and may be eliminated or reduced as a result of conditions beyond the control of the University of Florida, which may result in termination of your employment. Expected Salary: $53,000 - $60,000 commensurate with education and experience Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area. Preferred: * A master's degree in data science or a closely related field 2-5 years of relevant experience with environmental data; OR * A master's degree in environmental science, limnology, or a closely related field AND 2-5 years of relevant database experience. Desirable skills * Experience designing, maintaining, and/or working with databases of low to moderate complexity, using SQL programming language. * Experience with the coding language R, including R-Markdown and Shiny applications. * Significant experience working with relational databases, including Experience with the Florida DEP's Watershed Information Network (WIN). * Strong interpersonal skills that facilitate effective teamwork. * Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to self-learn, as needed. * Experience with website design and content creation. * Knowledge of statistical theories and principles, and experience with statistical modeling, particularly in a relevant environmental field. * Familiarity with data generated from analytical instrumentation and quality assurance and control practices. Additional skills that would be considered an asset for this position * Experience conducting scientific research, including but not limited to data analysis, proposal and publication co-authorship, and scientific presentations. * Knowledge of limnological principles; knowledge of aquatic ecology and water chemistry. * Experience working with volunteer science programs. * An interest in teaching and mentoring activities with undergraduate or graduate students. * Experience with graphic design, including experience or interest in phone application development for extension and research purposes.
