The Sterile Processing Clerk (Instrument Processing Technician) is responsible for maintaining instruments and equipment in an optimal fashion and preparing instrumentation, equipment, and sterile supplies for the surgical patient.
Key Responsibilities:
* Functions as an Instrument Processing Technician under the direction of the Clinical Leader/Registered Nurse.
* Knowledge of sterilization procedures, aseptic technique, and maintenance and care of instruments and equipment.
* Knowledge of standards and engages in practices and procedures of sterile technique.
* Cleans and/or disinfects instruments and equipment after use and returns it to the proper area, in appropriate sequence, for storage and/or processing.
* Differentiates sterilization and disinfection methods required for specific instruments and equipment.
* Cleans, wraps, sterilizes, and disinfects instruments and equipment and maintains the functions of the instrument processing area/department.
* Responsible for crossover duties in other areas such as purchasing supplies and inventory management in proper areas according to facility policy and management guidance.
Qualifications

Location: This position is full-time (40-hours/week) Monday-Friday NIGHT SHIFT 12:30 AM-9:00 AM in a warehouse environment. You will work an 8-hour shift. It may be necessary, given the business need to work occasional overtime. You may be required to travel between buildings. This role is located onsite at 1816 Willowby Street, Columbia, SC 29223 and provides warehouse type environment.
What You'll Do:
Provide support to inserter, sorter, and manual mail operators. Pull inventory (envelopes/inserts) for each operator, each job. Deliver and replenish operator supplies needed for production. Remove trash and unused supplies from operator work area. Keep entire production floor free from obstacles and clutter.
Operate inserter machines using personal computer driven software to process Explanation of Benefits, remittances, bills, and letters in a high volume (usually 10,000-15,000 pieces per hour) production setting. Cut, fold, insert, and apply postage to outgoing mail. Assist sorter operations by working the line, moving sorted mail from pockets to trays while performing routine quality checks. Provide support to the sorters by moving finished pallets from the production floor and prepping them for USPS pickup in the warehouse.
