The Opportunity

As the company continues to grow we are seeking a Process Mechanic II for the Film Manufacturing Operation located in Rochester, NY. The Process Mechanic II will maintain, trouble shoot and repair equipment for various manufacturing processes in an FDA regulated environment for various processes including but not limited to metallization, formulation, coating, and web converting. This individual will work as part of a team of engineers, mechanics, and operators in support of these operations. This individual will work in an FDA regulated medical device manufacturing operation with high regard for safety practices and systems and therefore be required to understand and comply with appropriate regulations. This individual must also have flexibility for shift work (currently A / B rotation , and or fixed C shift operational support Monday through Friday) with occasional weekends and overtime outside of their scheduled hours to help support business needs.
This position is in Rochester, NY.

The Responsibilities

Performs daily preventive and demand maintenance tasks for production machinery or facilities.Addresses maintenance demands to meet production schedules.Reads and interprets equipment manuals, procedures, and drawings to perform required maintenance.Performs root cause analysis, communicates recommendations, and implements solutions that prevent reoccurrence.Orders parts and supplies required to maintain equipment.Documents preventive and corrective maintenance work utilizing a computerized maintenance management system.Makes recommendations for modifications to enhance equipment life or productivity.Provides input and technical support to new projects.Demonstrates good teamwork while working to resolve technical problems.Communicates clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.Successfully completes job training requirements.Follows site lock-out tag-out requirements while servicing any equipment.Maintains work areas and shop in neat and orderly condition.Adheres to all company safety and site policy/regulations.

The Individual

Candidates should have a minimum Certificate / AAS in mechanical/electrical technologies or related degree or completed an apprenticeship and/or formal automated equipment mechanic training. Overview

The Process Mechanic performs activities including, but not limited to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and troubleshooting and repair of packaging and process machinery while following FDA regulations, cGMPs, OSHA requirements, company practices and company policies. This position may also include light facilities maintenance.

This is a 2nd shift position. Hours are 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm.


The ability to read, write and speak English is a requirement of the job.


Responsibilities

• Perform Line change over, set-up, start-up, including vision system training and data collection.
• Identify parts needed for repairs using parts manual for specific equipment and will assemble requisition for supervisor to order parts.
• Responsible for on-going preventative maintenance of machinery or equipment
• Required skills include, but are not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, troubleshooting and repair of packaging and process equipment.
• Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot electronics on all production equipment on the process and packaging lines to minimize production downtime.
• Use computer and logic controllers to perform system analysis of equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repairs logic controls/PLC, steam regulators, steam traps, steam strainers, steam valves, temperature control loops associated with autoclaves, tunnels, ovens.
• Troubleshoot vision systems and automated weight checkers
• Fabricate and install simple control systems to enhance line performance.
• Perform changeover of packaging line equipment from one size and product to another accurately documenting the activities in accordance with procedures.
• Ability to be a team player; works cooperatively with others to solve problems and proactively helps others when assistance is needed.

High school degree, with a Minimum of 3 years of relevant mechanical experience; or equivalent combination of advanced education and experience. Experience in an aseptic/pharmaceutical packaging environment preferred.

+ Deburr

+ Hand finishing

+ Use hand equipment (e.g hand tools, power tools, air tools and computers) needed to complete/process work assignments

+ Perform any pickup, rework and incorporation of changes to the product as required

+ Work from prints, sketches, specification and written/verbal information

+ Maintain certifications, qualification, licenses or permits as required to perform work

+ Utilize precision measuring equipment (calipers, scales, etc) to perform self -inspection of in-process and finished work

+ Perform routine minor machine and Total Preventative maintenance as part of daily work duties (e.g replacing filters, bulbs and maintaining machine lubricant/coolant levels)

+ Routinely move product within manufacturing the immediate manufacturing work area and on occasion, move product to the next operation within a building

+ Support the continuous flow of product within the manufacturing process by training and assisting team members of the same or lower classification

+ Ability to be cross-trained to inspect product and become SIA qualified

+ Perform process activities including, e.g. metal etching, metal polishing of aircraft details, heat treating, engraving, shot peening, sand blasting, wire assembling/fabrication, decal/ metal-cals and metal processing, etc. to support the production requirements.

+ Qualified to set-up and test electrical/mechanical/hydraulic/pneumatic assemblies and components.

+ Perform hand finishing operations typical of the following: blending of multiple adjacent MDD surfaces into engineering tolerances and/or perform transition work to bring detail parts in accordance with engineering tolerances.
